Hi,
First congratulations on Cancer Survival. I, too, am a Breast Cancer survivor.
I am actually disappointed in Nurse Beth's response as I found it extremely condescending and dismissive. I am not sure where you live but don't give up hope as I know of a fantastic NP, also in her 60's who recently was able to obtain a great position. I understand the trepidations of hiring someone 2 years shy of their 70th Birthday but quite often older employees are very reliable have great work ethics and their work experiences provide terrific teaching opportunities. Good luck.

Network, network, network. Go to organization meetings. Volunteer or attend events attended by physicians and hiring managers.
Hire an image consultant.
Start a Vlog demonstrating your competence.
All of the above will enhance image and visibility.
Apply for adjunct/full-time faculty positions at the 3 colleges of nursing in your town. They are always hiring. This may become your new career and/ or an opportunity to network.
Laid Off CRNP

I can relate. I was laid off recently and am 65y. I have 25 years experience as a CRNP in adult medicine, liver disease, and palliative care. I get many responses to my applications and the phone interviews, in my opinion, go well. Ultimately, I am not getting offers except from the self-employed (1099) home wellness visit companies. I am sure my age is a factor even though I plan to work until 70y. It is very frustrating. Hang in there and let us know if you find something. Good Luck!

ageism does exist in everywhere, can NP practise independently in his/her own clinic ?
