UNE Summer 2014 Start

Anyone starting at UNE in May 2014?

Featured Replies

I applied, but haven't heard anything yet. You?

I am interviewing there in 2 weeks and hoping to start in May. Will you be starting in May?

I will be starting this May

Nice! Do you mind sharing what the interview was like?

Yes, I am attending UNE this May. Interviews I thought were fairly relaxed. If you got an interview they have seen something they liked. Just show up and meet their expectations of what you appeared like on paper. You have two interviews, one with the director and one with the clinical director and another person that I can't remember. My interview was back in November.

Thanks. My interview is this afternoon. Hoping I can join you all in May! Thanks for the insight! :-)

Spoiled1, let me know how your interview goes. Best of luck to you.

RkaufRN,

The interview went well. It was very laid-back like everyone mentioned. I'm trying not to get my hopes up because they're only 1-2 spots open in the class and 6 of us interviewed today. We should know something in a week or two.

Spoiled1, glad to hear it went well. That is still a lot pressure knowing that only 1-2 spots remain out of 6 that interviewed. I would like to tell you, you have a great chance but I really don't know your background. That being said, my background was only 2 years ICU, 1 year open heart recovery, and CCRN certification. I did not think I was the most qualified person in the room when I interviewed. So take that for what it is worth.

Good luck! Are you an ICU nurse? I know they we're interviewing both ICU and ER nurses when I interviewed.

Sorry spoiled1, I just saw you PM'd me. I just joined this site in February and I'm still trying to figure out how to use it. And it won't let me reply. Sorry :(

No worries on the PM....My background is critical care nursing. I found out yesterday that I am waitlisted for now. We were told that they admit quite a few from the waitlist so I'm not giving up yet. I'll prepare to attend just in case I get the call. The program director is excellent. She told me she was contemplating adding seats to the class, but there wouldn't be enough clinical sites for everyone. I feel as though they really care about the success of their students. I was impressed overall. They're hoping to get the DNP in place so that this class (our class) can start taking courses in their second year. Also be prepared to rotate out to clinical sites. They emphasized that in our interview. You've got to be flexible and willing to travel for clinicals.(Florida,NC,etc) They're making everyone rotate to 2 CRNA only hospitals. You'll also be at your primary site less too. Anyway it's still very exciting. I'll let you know if I get a spot!
