UNE General Chem

Published

For those planning on taking online CHEM1 (chem 1010) with UNE, I thought I would share my experience.

The course is very "problem based". Homework is assigned, but not mandatory, however, it's pretty much impossible to do well on the quizzes without having done the homework problems. There are also labs of most of the 14 modules. The labs are also time consuming but they reinforce some of the concepts taught in lecture which definitely helps. The labs are ordered via an external supplier, and are shipped to you within the first week of you starting class. If you are doing well on the quizzes, it is a good sign that you will also do well on the proctored midterm and final exam.

I'd say that the work load is moderate, but not too much so long as you dedicate a few hours a week to it (4-6hrs). If you are a self starter and self motivated, the course shouldn't be too difficult, however, if you require motivation, that may be an issue, as you will have to maintain a pretty consistent pace given that the experiments will take time to complete.

If you are in the course, shoot me and email (jackrob91@outlook), and I can provide you with some of the course resources, including quizzes, and practice questions for the exams I saved.

Hey I’m thinking about taking this course. How long did it take you to complete? I think imma just take the lecture no lab though.

The class normally take 3-4 months to complete but if you have the material beforehand you can have the entire class done within 1-2 months. Email me, [email protected] , I can help you out if you decide to take the class!

Hey I'm taking organic Chemistry at UNE and I'm struggling already. Do you happen to have any resources to help?

OMG I'm taking the o chem class right now too and it is absolutely brutal! I am so disappointed in this class it's ridic. I ended up buying "Organic Chemistry as a second language" by David Klein and it has really helped me. Good luck!
