undocumented nursing students or graduates

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Well for undocumented students who have gotten into competitive nursing programs and completed it and now find yourselves not knowing what to do, here is my story... I was brought to the U.S. at the very young age of 7, did great in school, high school, and got a full ride scholarship to college. Knowing that I was good in school, I was attracted to "hard" classes and programs. I took my pre-pharm classess and my prerequisistes for nursing school. I got into nursing school right away and managed to get into hospitals w/o any problems. The moment came where I had to take NCLEX and I couldn't bc of lack of proper documentation. I ended up doing construction under Arizona's hot summers for 2 years looking for ways to get a visa or even take NCLEX but all was a dead end. I prayed and fasted for 21 days asking Jesus Christ for that opportunity to take the exam; I was exponentially forgetting the material. I began searching again, fixated and not willing to give up when I found a state that was willing to give me the chance, the chance we all worked so hard for. I took NCLEX after 2 years and only 3 wks revewing. I took all 6 hours trying my hardest to answer ALL questions correct. I left the testign center feeling like everyone else, nauseous, worried, thinking of the two long years that have passed by and all the struggles I had to face just to take the exam. I did the PVT and got the good pop-up, I didn't tell anyone until I was 100% certain, paid the 8 dollars and there it was, a humble "PASS." To you, the undocumented student or graduate, there is hope. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, give up, it's not a nurses quality.

Hi guys sorry for not replying. My original account was not working. And the cite was under "construction".

So I managed to get into a nursing school. Lonestar college really broke my spirit but God is good and the same day Lonestar said no (even though they had previously told me yes, that is why I took the prerequisites with them) another school called me and puff I was in and with a BSN! I attended clinicals without a problem and even got hired prior to my graduation (I start next month :))

As far as for NCLEX. It's handle by Pearson (at least here in Texas) so I brought my Passport and work authorization card. When I walked in I handed my work authorization. They didn't give me any problems so I had no need of showing my passport. I passed in 75 questions. My advice is to not give hope, God is gracious.

my account should be good to go so I'll try to respond to anything I can.

@Johan22 if you don't mind me asking what program did you attend? I am currently in the same predicament. I live in the Houston area and currently attending Lonestar. I have TPS which is fairly similar to DACA.

Congrats on passing the NCLEX :)

I just took my drivers license and I didn’t tell a soul I had daca

I am a teacher and I had a student that was going to go to college for nursing school. She did not know that being undocumented was a problem. We found out that she could not go. She ended up attending community college and getting a translators certificate. She can't do anything with it. She does NOT have DACA, a driver's license, etc. If anyone here is interested in helping me guide her further into her education, please send me a private message! I would love to hear what you have to say. She does not want to get fake papers. I am so happy I found this thread!

Hello. When you submitted your application did you provided a ssn? I'm in a similar situation but I did not qualified for DACA and now I'm scared to submit the application and that they will deny it.

Have anyone had any issues during clinical without a ss#? I live in NJ and daca will most likely expire by 2021 and I’m wondering what you need to show during clinical.
