I'm trying to understand...
Let's presume a $21/hr base in a FL hospital working overnights. The differential is $9/hr. Is there always a differential added on to the hourly b/c it's overnight? Also, is overtime calculated with the differential? I'm gonna take a stab at a 48 hrs...4 12-hr shifts.
Ex. $21+$9=$30/hr
$30 x 40 = $1200
$30 x 1.5 = $45/hr-ot
$45 x 8 hrs = $360/8hr-ot pay
$1200 + $360 = $1560/wk
Bear in mind that the differential is for working certain hours only (at least in my area of the country). So if I work a 12 hour shift, from 7 p- 7a I get evening diff from 7 p-11p, night diff from 11 p- 7 a and base pay only for any time after 7 a. OT is paid the same way - depends on when the OT occurred.

That stinks!! We get paid the highest diff for the entire shift, as long as the >50% of our shift falls into that diff. IE I work 7p-7a,..7p-11p would be evenings, but since I work 11p-7a I get the full 12hr noc diff.
