Im currently 16 turning 17 in may, to give you a background of my situation i was placed in foster care at age 15 and have been living with foster parents for almost two years, long story short i have the next year and a month to prove independence so i can age out of the system. I graduated high school due to advanced placement and am looking to pursue work as a nurse. Im not sure what i should do however because i cant seem to find any programs that will issue you a CNA license under 18 years of age. I do know that some places offer it though because i have herd of it in Harrisonville MO. due to distance this is not an option for me. if anyone could pleas point me in the right direction for a program in the North Kansas city Missouri area i would highly appreciate it.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post

You understand that working as a cna and as a nurse are not the same thing, right?
I'm not in Missouri, but in Kansas you simply take a cna course. Most community colleges offer it. My own daughter, who is not yet 18 and is not yet finished with high school, is enrolled in a course set to start this summer.
Check your local community colleges and texhnical schools. You might also check out some other forums on this website, including the student section. I think you'll find more info specific to your situation there.

Have you checked with your State's Board of Nursing or Dept. of Health (or whomever else issues the CNA certificate)? They are your official source. I used to teach CNAs and I do remember an issue with a young student (not mine). But she was a legally 'emancipated minor' and was allowed to take classes AFTER some investigation.
