I am new to the forum and wanted to see if there were any others applying to either UNC or Duke's ABSN program for the Spring 2014 entry?
I know this has been discussed in other threads, but I am a little apprehensive about the tuition at Duke, esp. now since they have done away with the repayment program they once had. On the flip side, I would love to end up at UNC, but know that it is very competitive!
Anyone out there currently in the UNC ABSN program that can speak to the application process/ chances of acceptance?
I am recent graduate (got my B.S. May of '12) with a 3.5/3.6 cum, all A's in pre-reqs except a B in stat and will be taking Micro this summer (but planning on an A!). I also have a lot of volunteer experience in non-clinical settings and clinical (currently work as PT tech, medical mission trip, and ~400 hours in other clinical settings- mostly in PT departments though)
So next Friday we will be notified if we are admitted first round or being considered for second round?
I believe that we will be notified of first round admit, waitlist (consideration for second round), or (according to the website) they can deny you at that point. So it's not an automatic waitlist if you are not admitted first round.
NC people,Does anyone know the difference between BIO 175 and BIO 275 at community colleges? They're both listed as "microbiology" but one is 3 hours and the other is 4 hours. This is the last prerequisite I need to take so I want to make sure I'm taking the correct one. Thanks!
I took BIO275. Half of my class was applying to nursing programs or PA programs at various schools. At least at the CC I attended they gave us the impression BIO175 was more for 2 year programs like dental assistant etc. However, looking at Duke's website it seems like either could count since 3 hours is allowed and they just say from an accredited program.

Yeah, it also said we would be notified this month in one of the emails I received. I figured it would be next week since they said mid August and orientation for the fall admits is that next Monday or Tuesday (19th or 20th)
