UNC ABSN applicants - Spring 2014

Published

Hi everyone,

I wanted to start a thread for those of us applying for UNC's ABSN program starting in January 2014. There is another thread on here, but it looks like it's only about Duke's applicant pool. I know the application isn't due until August 10th, but when I applied to Duke for the fall I found talking to others in the same situation helped with my nerves! :)

I hope everyone's application is going well so far! Let's keep each other updated on how things are going throughout the process and share information as we go. Good luck to everyone!!

Yay!! So happy and excited for you! For the background check we had to sign a form and give payment ($40, I believe). I would hope they would include all this in the paperwork they'll be sending you. I know several people had listed things about roommates on the FB page, so you may want to try that if you are on there. :) Just search for "UNC ABSN '15" and you will see the group to join.

That's so much! I have received so many emails lol.. its ridiculous Ill definitely look it up. I sent the health documentation in.. Alot of it I have already done because I was previously accepted to another nursing program so at this time I know ill need the hep b surface test and the flu vaccine. I saw a few more forms that I needed to submit but I have yet to receive actually paperwork yet, so far everything has been by email. Ill try and contact finacial aid tomorrow or Friday :) feel like there is so much to do in so little time now :/ oh well!! I'm super excited :D

Have you heard anything from finacial aid? I already have them my fafsa a while back

Congrats seahawk girl! So happy for you and welcome to our little family :) The apartment I will be staying in is at university commons, really nice area, as far as I know there are 2 rooms available for January move in. If you want more details just let me know! It's $400 a month with all utilities included.

I should mention I lived there last year and really liked it..it's pretty quiet and relaxed and the buses take you straight to the school or nursing, etc.

I think I looked them up and that's not a bad price for everything. I wish I could get in touch with financial aid to see what kind of award package they would give lol but I couldn't get in touch with anyone today. Have you had any luck? Maybe and ideal time to call perhaps haha

I filled out my FAFSA and pretty much within a week they gave me my package..just federal loans. That's about all you will get from the school because we are 2nd degree students. Anyways..if you want to look me up on facebook or vice versa we can do that. I will send you a private message on here with my name, etc.

I have usually called the Financial Aid Office earlier in the day (before 11) and have gotten in touch with someone. Maybe try them during the morning hours (if you can)! The SON folks have always been super helpful too, so don't be afraid to call or email them. :)

Hi! I'm sure all people from this thread are now busy in school and no longer checking allnurses. :). BUT - if anyone is still checking in I would love to speak with one of you to get some insight as I'm very interested in UNC's ABSN program and will be applying next round. Let me know and thanks so much in advance!

Hey sales2nursing! I was also looking at this thread. I applied for the ABSN program for this coming January cohort (2015 admission). Did you end up applying as well??
