I'm looking to buy a new laptop for the upcoming spring semester and I really want a macbook although the school doesn't ensure full compatibility with their software. If anyone has a macbook how has the compatibility issue impacted you? And for anyone with a PC computer what computers do you recommend? I am currently using a Windows 8 PC and I can't stand it.

I don't know a lot about various PCs, but my ASUS drives me crazy. The front edge of the keyboard somehow connects to the mouse pad and the cursor jumps all over the page randomly. On the other hand, my daughter loves her ASUS. Go figure.

Software compatibility is a huge consideration. You can configure Windows 8 so it works just like the familiar desktop - I understand this is going to be more obvious in "Windows 10" (dunno why they're skipping 9). So if the tile thingys bother you - you can work around them.
There are so many really fabulous laptop bargains this time of the year!!! I just picked up a cute new lightweight 500 G HP laptop for
Their skipping 9 so they could get as far away as they can from the fail of Windows 8 haha. What is the model of that computer? It sounds interesting :)
Its either a hit or miss with PC's most of the time.

I have a MacBook and love it. I run Windows 7 via Boot Camp and it's like having a great Windows and a great Mac laptop.
Did you have to pay for Windows 7 via Boot Camp?
Yes, but there can be specials to en found around the web, especially for OEM versions.
