UMSL vs Chamberlain

Published

I'm starting to look at nursing schools to transfer to in Fall of '14 to finish my BSN. I currently go to Saint Charles Community College and have completed my gen eds based on UMSL's requirements for a transfer. I wanted to have a back up option and have some friends who are going to Chamberlain and like it so far so I went to visit. I asked several people why they chose Chamberlain over other nursing schools and every person said they tried to get into UMSL and did get in for either the Fall or Spring semesters they applied for! One girl has the same GPA as me (3.7 currently) and had all A's in the science classes UMSL (University of Missouri Saint Louis) looks at! Has anyone been accepted to UMSL recently with around those grades? Did you have to reapply a few times? Thanks for any info!

I didn't apply to UMSL but I have a friend who got accepted. Sh's not a good friend so I do not know her GPA, sorry. I am going to Maryville and LOVE it! It may be an option for you if you are looking into other schools. I believe that their pre reqs are mostly the same for UMSL and Mayville except you don't need nutrition at Maryville. Good luck with getting in :)

That is where Chamberlain gets their students - those that don't want to wait. You'll get into Chamberlain right away, but it will cost you WAY more than a traditional school. Chamberlain is owned by DeVry, a for-profit school. I have a pretty strong bias against for-profit schools, but to each his own. Just make sure you do plenty of research before deciding on this school (or any school for that matter). If a nursing school doesn't have a wait list, there's always a reason behind it.

I got accepted into UMSL traditional BSN starting in a couple weeks. I'm pretty excited. they senior counselors and staff were very helpful and down to earth.
