UMDNJ Accelerated BSN Program

U.S.A. New Jersey

Published

Hi everyone! Is there anyone who can provide information on the accelerated BSN program at UMDNJ? I would like to know how durable is the program- the good, the bad and the ugly. What GPA is required for admission and how soon does one have to apply? Thanks- any info would be appreciated:chuckle

It is so good to meet fellow classmates!

I was reading the thread and many of the same things happened to me. I applied for the Fall 2010 program, I did not receive a rejection or acceptance letter and it was already August. I finally got a hold of someone and was told that they program has been filled and I will be contacted to see if I wanted to be considered for Spring 2011.

Anyway, I did get in for Spring 2011, so I will be there! I just did not understand how they can claim the class is full before their deadline.

I saw someone ask about living situations, I live in New York City, so I will definitely have a heck of a commute seeing that classes end around 5. Gotta love rush hour.

Does anyone know if clinicals start right away or those are in semesters to come?

I went last week to get my ID and parking permit. I am just nervous for the TEAS test and orientation. All we have to do is create a login on the ati testing site to register? Or do we have to do something else?

Looking forward to meeting you all.

@TheEmDee: Hi. Don't stress over the TEAS. Yes, just create your login on the ATI website to register and that's it. Remember your UMDNJ ID and password to log on the computers (it's the same ID used to access myumdnj). Word of advice, get there early just for parking.

@meghm & styk: They are most liking going to review your app for the Summer semester, because orientation is Wed. If so, it's only 3 months till that semester begins. Some programs accepts applications once a year, so 3 months is better than 12.

Remember the ABSN program accepts students on a rolling basis. So a few of us who applied for the Fall semester was rolled into the Spring semester, limiting the seats for those applying for Spring (despite meeting the app deadline). Those who didn't get in for the Spring semester will get rolled into the Summer semester, also limiting those seats for that semester. The good thing is we didn't need to reapply.

I hope they just let me know that I was accepted for Summer, and don't make me resubmit anything. I'll be fine with that, I'm just so anxious to know!

Thanks for the info :)

Clinicals will begin after 5 weeks into the program, during the first 5 weeks you will meet with your clinical instructor and learn hands on nursing skills- as a heads up, these nursing skills will be tested later in the semester as part of Foundations of Nursing grade- congratulations on acceptance

Hi everyone! I'm attending UMDNJ's ABSN this Spring :) ...or at least I think I am. I was accepted to 's ACE program, but it really is soo expensive. So, I applied last minute to UMDNJ and last week I spoke to a woman who told me they reviewed my application and came to a decision. She said she couldn't tell me the decision over the phone, but that "I should be very happy." However, all that I received in the mail last week was a letter about filing for financial aid. Anyway, there's an orientation this week? I'm going to call on Monday and hopefully get more information...but is there anything else that's coming up that I need to know about? Also, when does the program start? I heard January 2nd, but I wasn't able to confirm that. I know everything about Drexel's program, but I don't know all that much about UMDNJ's and the start of the program is quickly approaching. If anyone could help me out, I'd appreciate it! I don't know if I need to register, buy scrubs, etc. Is there a thread specifically for Stratford's Spring '11 entry or a Facebook group?? Thank you!

You should wait for the official letter. Stratford and Newark have two different schedules. For Newark campus, testing for TEAS is Dec. 1st and orientation is Dec. 2nd. Stratford's orientation is on Dec. 6th. You can check the UMDNJ academic calendar: http://sn.umdnj.edu/studentsonly/calendar.htm

Newark program starts Jan 4th, not sure if that's also the date Stratford starts.

Scrubs, etc will be discussed during orientation. However, until you get the official letter with your ID, etc. I wouldn't just show up.

I should have checked the mail, as my acceptance letter was in the mailbox since Saturday I guess. Thanks so much for the academic calendar link though! I searched everywhere on my letter and I swear there's no ID number. I'm going to call tomorrow to get more details. Thank you!

Level III Stratford student here. Any questions or concerns PM me, I'd love to help ya out.

Do you have an email? I'd love to ask some questions but I don't think I'm able to PM here yet!

Also would anyone be interested in starting a Spring 2011 (newark) FB group?

Congrats!!

You'll get everything, such as book list, orientation info, ID, setting up your email, Financial Aid, etc in the second letter. That second packet has a whirlwind of info needed. Good luck to you at Stratford.

It's up to you. I will be honest, for me I spend more time on allnurses than FB. Come January, I may not have time for both. There is however, a UMDNJ Nursing FB page.
