Hello Everyone,
I am a new member trying to get information about the UMDNJ ABSN program and thought the best and most accurate information would come from fellow students who have already successfully applied to the program.
I am currently taking the one prerequisite I need before I can apply (Anatomy & Physiology II) and recently attended an information session. One thing that left me with questions was about the 5 year rule on some of the classes (A & P I and II, Microbiology).
I am hoping that someone can clear my confusion on this. I graduated with a BS in Biology in May 2009. I took A & P I my last semester and am taking A & P II now. When it comes to Micro I took it Spring 2008. Now does that mean I am ok applying for Fall 2013? I tried emailing someone to ask with not much luck. Do you guys think it would be a problem and I should retake it? Anyone was or is now in the same boat?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you.
Ya they did say that the BLS cert is not something that would hold up the admission process. I really hope I get in though. This is the only school I applied to because it's the only one that I had all the prereqs for. Everywhere else I would need like two more classes and, as I'm sure you guys know, is more time/money that I cannot waste on more schooling.
Ya. I'm nervous though because I took Basic Micro instead of the General Micro. Not sure if there's much of a difference though. At CCC, I'm pretty sure nursing students can use either. I tried getting a definite answer, but no one at UMDNJ was really able to help me. This waiting game is killing me! At least allnurses.com has helped with some of my impatience lol
I hope it doesn't cause a problem for you as it wasn't specified which micro they wanted. I would assume basic and general cover the same topics, don't stress about it. I also check allnurses everyday to keep myself busy :). I am anxiously waiting for someone to post that they got accepted so we know the decisions are starting to go out.

I also received an email asking for my BLS certification. I actually had mailed in a copy before I submitted my application but I went ahead and faxed it to the number they provided. Mama Nurse, uploading it onto the online application is actually quite clever I don't think you should have a problem. I heard that the merge takes effect starting July 1st and yes, although technically we will be in the UMDNJ program we will graduate with a Rutgers diploma.
