UMD CNL FALL 2018

Published

Hi guys! I know it's a little early... but just wanted to start a thread for those who are applying to the UMD CNL program for fall of 2018. I just submitted my application!

No... tomorrow will be 4 weeks for me.

Anyone else heard anything yet? I'm thinking maybe Thursday?

ahhh I just got an interview invite guys! For early april!

I interviewed on March 8. The interviewer said 2-3weeks for a decision. Sounds like it will be longer than that looking at everyone's posts. Argh....good luck to everyone. Hope everybody keeps us posted on their decisions as they get them!!!

I just called the office. She mentioned that I should hear by the end of the month. I told her I received an acceptance letter already and I want to know my status for UMD.

I emailed admissions and asked again when we can expect to hear a decision. They said that the Admissions Committee will begin releasing decisions this week and that they will be releasing decisions on a rolling admissions basis throughout March and April. She also noted that the admissions decision would be released in SURFS first (where we completed our application), so logging into SURFS will allow you to see the Admissions decision prior to receiving the letter. She did not specify what would happen if we didn't get in, but hope this helps!

Thanks so much!.. So I guess we should be checking everyday now. I have a cut off date for April 15th for Georgetown and I do not want to cut it close.

Aapage87, which is your first choice school?

I replied back asking if we were not accepted to the program and when those decisions would be released by.

I like both schools.. Maryland is #1 for the program according to US News. Ultimately, it all boils down to financial aid package. Who provides the most money

Speaking of financial aid packages, how does one start to go about this?

I've only ever used FAFSA for undergrad and was very fortunate enough for dad to pay remainder of tuition, so no loans.

Is there someone at UMSON I partner up with to find out what aid is available for me? Or is this something I hunt down completely on my own (i.e. applying for various scholarships, loans, grants, etc..).

@ Aapage87, what are some differences you could see between the aid you receive with MD vs Georgetown? in my head if I'm seeking this out all on my own, I feel like I would be getting the same amount of aid regardless of what school I go to, minus the +/-1 school specific scholarship.

*apologies for the brief sidetrack of conversation

You have to fill out the FAFSA form. On UMSON's website it says that students should complete the FAFSA after January 1 and before February 28 every year to meet UMB's award priority deadline of March 1.

Here is the link, which also has more aid/scholarship information: Financial Aid and Scholarships | University of Maryland School of Nursing

There are some contacts listed, so you could reach out to someone if you needed assistance, or had any questions.

Hello..

Well Georgetown is only loans accept for merit based scholarships they do not offer grants. So I would have to apply for various scholarships independent of the school. Also both schools have fellowships which you can apply for and must provide 3 years of work at the affiliated hospital in return for assistance with tuition.

Maryland because I am in state I am not sure the process whether just loans or such. However I do remember one the current students who spoke at one the Q&As mentioned she is living strictly off of loans
