I've only heard good things about UMC. Take that with a grain of salt - because I'm a student. But the good things I heard were from nurses. They do have great ratios. Have you been to the website? They had a video posted with nursing info last time I checked. UMCAZ.COM

What does surprise me is how many of their nursing jobs say rotating shift required. I could work straight nights, but rotating shifts would destroy me.

I would recommend UMC to just about anybody. But, I know a few things about it that I can share...

1. Yes, as a new grad (especially in the ICUs) you have to rotate shifts. I'd rather just do straight nights than rotate.

2. I've heard that they aren't very supportive if you make a mistake. That's first hand info...

But, I'd still recommend it to anyone.

By the way, I'm considering to work in a medical surgical areas. What is important to me is that my co-worker will be very supportive to me, especially, in times of problem in the said area. And also the privilege for career advancement and the benefits they offer when I will be working in their hospital. Anyway, I would also like to know the cost of living in TUCSON. How much is the state tax? What other tax do we have to pay? Is the place safe?

Safe? Umm, well, I'm sure it's safer than say, NYC or DC. Would I ever dream of leaving my doors unlocked-No way. Do I worry about my house getting tagged with gang graffitti? Yep, it's happened twice in the last 2 years. My car has been broken into twice, a bike stolen out of my garage, ice tea stolen off my my porch...and I live on the good side of town!

Tucson is a larger town than people think. We are about 500,000 technically, but our city lines are drawn oddly. Our true population is over 800,000. With a big city comes big city problems. It doesn't help that a person can be in another country in less than an hour with your car or child. That being said, just keep your eyes open, and don't leave your doors unlocked LOL. I think we rank pretty high in property crime, as opposed to violent crime.

Actually, I'm still in the Philippines and might sign a contract to work in Tucson. I just really need to know a lot of things about living in Tucson and working in UMC.

But how about the taxes you are paying? Are they low enough? Hw about the atarting wage in UMC?

By the way, where are you working in Tucson?
