UMB 2010 Fall Applicants (BSN and CNL)

Published

Ok guys, this is the new thread for everyone who is applying to the UMB FALL 2010, BSN or CNL Program . Good luck to all.

Has everyone's status gone: Complete Ready for Review?

UPDATE: My status changed from WAITLISTED to: Admission Term:Fall 2010Admission Type:Nursing MSApplication Status:Decision MadeDecision:Admit-Institution

I am soooooo happy but I feel like I'm waaaaay behind on information. Isn't school about to start within 3 weeks or so? Has any other waitlisters been accepted? Where do I go from here? Sincerely lost.............

That is such great news, Mike! So happy for you! :yeah:

Congratulations! I am sure that you will shortly receive a packet from Admissions detailing everything you need to be doing but you could start on the things that take the most time - your immunizations and CPR certification. Go to the UMB website and look for the medical history report form - that will tell you what you will need to have. We do require TWO TB PPD skin tests done within the last 12 months and at least a week apart (or for anyone with a positive TB result, either a chest x-ray report or TB questionnaire). Some physicians don't get that, but it is true. If you cannot get an appointment, you could go to a Minute Clinic in some CVS stores. You will need CPR for professional health care workers and only American Heart Association or Red Cross certification will do. On the school website, there is a plan of study that will tell you what classes you will be taking and then you can go to the UMB bookstore site to see the list of books and medical equipment, uniforms, etc. that you will need. You can buy your lab coat, scrubs (white top, light khaki pant) anywhere, but you will need to purchase a nametag and one school patch for every scrub top and labcoat you purchase and you can only get those through the UMB book store. Do this now as the nametag will take a couple of weeks to be made and you will need it for your labs the first week or so of classes. Whatever you do DON'T miss Orientation. Best of luck!

:yeah::yeah:OMG! Congratulations Mike!!!! :yeah::yeah:

Very exciting news! I look forward to seeing you at Orientation in a few weeks!

Hi All,

I'm considering applying for Spring admission into UMB's nursing program, but the deadline is Sept. 1, and the university recommends that applicants submit their applications as early in the respective fall or spring admission cycles as possible. Should I still go ahead and apply; or, do you think it would be wiser to apply early on for Fall admission?

Thanks for your help! :-)

If you are able to start in the Spring semester (logistics-wise on your end), definitely apply by September 1st! I have heard that there are more applicants for the Fall semester than for the Spring, so applying now is only in your best interest. I wouldn't be concerned that the website says to apply early. I was told that all applications and supporting materials that are submitted by the deadline are reviewed at the same time. So polish up that essay and submit it! Good luck! :)

Great! Thanks so much for the advice! Now I just need to find out how to take the NET. Apparently, there's no testing location in Hawai'i? Weird.

After speaking with my BSN friends, I believe the NET is no longer accepted and has been replaced with the TEAS. Check the website for details. Good luck!

You're right - apparently, applicants must take the TEAS V. Because I heard the science section is mostly based on chemistry (and I would need ample time to review my chem. notes), I've decided to apply for Fall 2011 admission.

Just discovered this late last night!!!:D:D

Can't wait to meet everyone on Wednesday!!!

What does the provisional in "provisional-admit" mean. Is this for people still taking pre-reqs and their admission to the program depends on the classes that they are still taking?

Oh and if anyone can give me a good idea about a good TEAS score for the BSN that'd be wonderful. I don't see that UMD has a minimum score.

That is exactly what it means. Also, they are not kidding about requiring a B or better for these classes.
