Hey everyone,
As I am applying to MA programs I did not see a new topic for the GEP program for 2020. Thought I would make one and see if anyone on here is/has applied already and start chatting with one another.
Cheers.

I picked the family track! I can’t tell you much about it because for the RN year all of the tracks are together. I really love the program so far! It’s a lot of work and sometimes can be a little hectic/disorganized, but the professors are always willing to help and really try to work with the class! The clinical groups are also small so there’s a lot of learning in that setting too!
@nbFNP congrats on your acceptance! Sorry I didn’t get back to you before your interview. I was accepted to this program, BC, MGH, Regis and Simmons and this was my top choice. Between tuition and living in worcester vs Boston this program is also the most affordable!
@nbFNP That is great, thank you so much for sharing your insight as it is really helpful! Would you be able to elaborate a little more on what a typical week looks like for you and the time you spend in class throughout the week? Additionally during what semester do you have the opportunity to work as a nurse? And is it easy to find roommates for housing purposes?
I also got accepted to Adult Gerontology Primary Care!

Congrats to you. Do you know if there’s a Facebook page for our class yet?

So right now a typical week is class from 9-5:15 on Monday, Clinical from 6am-2pm on Tue and Wed (there is one evening group from 2pm-10pm). Lab on Thurs from 12:30-4:30 and then class from 9-3 on Friday! There is a good amount of reading and assignments to do at home as well. It's a lot, but manageable!
After the first year, you are able to take the NCLEX and begin working as an RN after you pass. It is actually required by the program that you work a certain number of hours before getting the DNP, so they factor in that you will be working in the curriculum for the following years.
I personally do not live with roommates, but there are a ton of apartments available in Worcester, and they are much more affordable than the Boston area. If you are located close by you can come down to campus and there area always bulletin boards with people looking for roommates, and once you get your Umass email people send out mass emails all of the time looking for roommates. I know a lot of people that found roommates from the medical school and graduate school of biomedical sciences too!

Once you put a deposit down did you get an email confirming your status as an incoming student shortly after?
