UMass Boston ABSN Summer 2019

Published

Hi Everyone! I noticed there have been threads about this topic from past application years and figured I would start one for this year. The application is due on December 1st, has anyone applied yet?

Hi! I applied at the end of October and am anxiously waiting to hear back.

I just submitted my application and application materials today. Judging from previous years threads it seems that most people found out in late December or early January. Did you apply to any other schools?

I applied to MGH and am working on my application to Northeastern. I'm worried since I only applied to 3 because it's not a lot but fingers crossed! What other schools did you apply to?

That's great! I am actually putting all my eggs in one basket with UMass Boston for financial reasons. I'm very nervous but am feeling confident at the same time. How did you do on your TEAS?

I will definitely go to UMASS due to financial reasons as well if I get in (fingers crossed for both of us!). I did pretty well on my TEAS - I got an 87. How about you?

Does anyone else have an outstanding prerequisite that they are currently finishing? I was told I can drive it to Umass in person as soon as I get my grade/official transcript but I'm curious about the deadline for this because I've been told a few different dates.

Hey! I applied as well. I got a 78 on the TEAS. I am finishing up Microbiology on Portage now with the goal of getting my transcript to them by the 17th which is when they start reviewing applications. I am also applying to MGH!!

I got an 83 on the TEAS! I wonder how highly they take TEAS scores into consideration. I just got my login to check my application status and it says "The committee has done an initial review of your application and you will be receiving a letter shortly." Has anyone else checked their status?

That's great! I think they want TEAS scores to be Proficient or higher...not totally sure though! My application status says the same thing.

I read in a different thread that someone called admissions and was told that they don't review applications until the 17th or 18th.. do you think it's a good thing or a bad thing that we are getting letters regarding initial reviews being complete?

Yes that was me! this is the email from admissions:

"We meet the week before Christmas, 12/17 - 12/21, to begin reviewing Accelerated nursing applications. If there are any delays in getting your transcripts from your school and your transcripts end up reaching us after Christmas, our team will have already reviewed applications and made the initial admit decisions. At that point your application would probably be put on the waitlist and there would be no guarantees for summer 2019"
