Hi guys!
I'm currently completing my undergrad+prereqs to apply in the next year to UM's ABSN program for the Spring 2019 session (Apps due next august). I know it's a very premature thread but I thought there might be other applicants for the Spring 2019 session who are already freaking out about apps like me. If any students who were accepted for previous threads could share their experience, tips, or stats here that would be incredibly helpful.
We got this.
I think you should call them. Your check should be arrive by now, I don't think it took that long . If they not received yet, my advice is take the picture of your receipt and e-mail it to them them to proof that you actually sent your check on the 14th.
thank you i will call the postal office tomorrow and then UM .
I applied to both. FIU is a lot cheaper. I am really hoping I get into either one - they are the only two places I applied. If I get into both, I have no idea what I will do. We wont find out about the interview for FIU until September, from what I've been told by their advisers. Even though UM is so much more expensive, the simulation hospital is amazing, and I do feel like the program might be better, but it is hard to tell. I found a thread from last year, and this guy - GramStain ( https://allnurses.com/member-1196149/posts.html ) is very helpful. He was accepted to both FIU and UM and ended up going to FIU. He seems to be very happy there. I'd love to hear your thoughts as well.
Hi CateK!
I also looked through past posts and spoke to gramstain, he told me hes very happy with the program so far and it was a no brainer for him to save money. For me the debate is only about the cost. I personally feel like UM offers a superior nursing program with more network opportunities and the nursing program has been established for decades. Also, Since they have a partnership with the Miami Transplant Institute, I feel like I have more opportunities to get where I want to be. I'm seeking to specialize in med/surg directly with transplant patients. I'll probably still go through the interview with FIU if I get picked but I feel like my heart is already with UM.
If anyone else is questioning the arrival of their check just call 305 284-4325.
I got accepted July 9
Mailed my check July 14th Saturday
Called thursday July 19th and they had just received it.
It was cashed the following week.
Today, the 31st, I received a new email titled "get ready for UM nursing," that says my deposit has been verified and it's all official.
From here on we would continue getting emails addressed as "Get Ready for UM Nursing," with info on registration, orientation, etc.
