Hi there
I'm new to this so bear with me!
My situation is that i am a registered children's nurse in the UK with 10 years experience. I am currently undertaking a masters level nurse practitioner program in "Pediatric Ambulatory Care".
My wife and i are interested in moving to the orlando area in the not too distant future and i am trying to find out if i will be allowed to register in Florida.
The CGFNS says they are not sure as my nursing qualification is children's based and not general nursing, the Florida board of nursing were unsure as well... i am waiting for a response from the director of education...
does anyone have any experience of pediatric nursing in florida or whether a uk registered advanced nurse practitioner in pediatrics would be able to work in florida.
I hope someone can help - we are longing to be able to come to the usa to work but do not think we'd get visa's unless i am able to work in my current role.

You will need some general nursing qualification to nurse in Florida or for that matter the USA. When did you do your training? Did you qualify as a General Nurse before you qualified as a Pediatric Nurse? You will need to do the nursing exam to get your License - called the NCLEX.
As already advised please go to the international section where you will get your questions answered more thoroughly.....:)
no, i did a paediatric nursing qualification.
the first 18 months of my training were "general" training but my qualification is RN ( Child )
if you have to be a general nurse to work solely in pediatrics, i think that is a ridiculous idea.
I will challenge it !!!
