Hi Sam, well I applied for my NCLEX via the Texas BON. They don't require a Social security number-SSN....yet. Go on the Texas BON website to apply and while you do that also go to the CGFNS website to get your transcript and nursing license assessed-CES. During this process keep following up with your College and the NMC . Make sure they send in the transcript and license validation forms in a timely manner. This process takes a while. The NCLEX can be done in London, so not too much travel needed. 😀
Also I forgot to mention that US nurses are generalist trained so I hope you did didactic and Clinical hours in obstetrics and paediatrics along with the other areas. UK nurses sometimes don't do some areas and this makes it very difficult if not near impossible to be able to do the NCLEX exam.

Thanks so much for the advice. Will have a look at Texas. No the hours is the one of the main things I am concerned about. I am an adult nurse so no real clinical or theory hours concerning other specialities. However I would like to further my career in the UK first anyway so don't know if that would count towards hours. How long has the process taken for you? I have been looking at passport USA as a possibility. Realistically though relocating is in our five to ten year plan as opposed to near future.
Thanks again
I have noticed that if you do your midwifery it might help with obstetric and paediatric hours. It takes a long time. I have been at this for 18 months to the visa screen stage. It's a long frustrating process, patience is key. 5-10 years is realistic .
Yes midwifery is something I have always wanted to do and was always going to top up my nursing degree with it so will look into that in more detail. Had a look at Texas and at the moment can still apply without social security number. Glad our timeframe is realistic. Certainly not expecting to wave a magic wand in a few years and it happens hehe. But looking into it is eye opening and interesting.
Thank you

Hi everyone,I'm a nurse in the UK with 15 years of ICU experience....wow it seems so long. Anyway I've just passed my NCLEX-RN this January. Now I'm trying to choose between O'Grady Peyton and Assignment America. I was wondering if anyone has had any recent experience with these agencies? I would appreciate any advice or insight you might offer.
