UK Cost of Living and Band 5 Salary

I would like to ask you is Band 5 -21146 Salary is it enough for UK cost of living? We are family with 3 years girl and only I will work at the begining in UK.

I need to plan my budget carefully and thinking about property where we will live, councul Tax, another bills and everyday needs.

Just to complicate matters some Kent hospitals also pay London Weighting! The hospitals located on the London /Kent border get 'outer London weighting' up to £4,351 then hospitals in North Kent get 'fringe London Weighting' up to £1,616, then within the fringe area you may get the recruitment and retention payment on top as a way to attract staff who would otherwise commute into London and that's before you add unsociable hours. Once you are into Maidstone / Medway area the money is more in keeping with the national salary.

You would also need to factor in the cost of childcare, unless you have family willing to help.

I was a single mom for a few years, i London, England, and actually found I was better off on welfare than working as a senior staff nurse, because the childcare costs just ate so much of my salary that it was not worth working. By the time I had paid for childcare, I would have had less than £30 a week to live on, and that aint going to pay the rent!

I could get housing benefit to pay the rent, and at least twice the £30 every week on welfare,so that is what I did.
