I don't know my gpas off the top of my head, but I got an 84.7 on my TEAS. I am also certified to work as a lab tech, which i did for a while before i had my daughter. Finishing my first BS next month.

My sister-in- law graduated from this program in May and said that lots of the transfers in her class had interviews. They seem to be personal interviews according to previous allnurses threads. Nervous as hell, but hoping I'll do okay.

Congrats on your degree! You will do great! All we can do is practice answering questions and come across as genuine. I had also read that some don't get interviewed, but the admissions advisor I spoke to said everyone was going to get interviewed. Do you know if it is going to be a single person or a panel-type interview? I forgot to ask!

Thank you! I hope so, I'm a very nervous person though. I wish the interview was tomorrow, so I could just get it over with. I'm assuming it's one on one, but I didn't ask. She just told me they do one every 15 minutes and I asked if I needed to bring anything, to which she said no.

I've also seen some people just get in, but sometimes they want to know more about you before they decide.

And great job on your GPAs. Very jealous, but trying not to compare because I know I haven't done that well. I'm doing online courses and at home with my toddler and it's challenging. I couldn't imagine doing all of my pre reqs with a baby; I did most of mine a long time ago.

oh! certification AND a BSN. nice! did you apply to any ABSN programs? or other traditional BSN? I ran across a fall 2019 thread about an interview but I couldn’t find much detail. I guess I can stress over that tonight and read all the threads all over again.

I’m sure you sister-in-law can give you lots of insight and possibly a mock interview! ? I know that would help me calm my nerves before an interview

@Ifranco2 @aric91 is this a phone, in-person, or skype interview? ?

I am also anxiety-ridden when I feel under pressure so I know what you mean about just wishing it was tomorrow. And again thanks. I started off at the alamo colleges when my son was about 3 years old. Sadly I did not go to college right after high school so I had to do all my classes after I had my son. I always say I am living my life backwards lol.

So did your sister-in-law like the program? Did she transfer or was she at UIW from the start?

You're still pursuing your dreams. I am about to be 28, so I feel old to be starting a new program, but this is what I wanted to do in the first place, so I'm excited.

She was a transfer, but did a few pre reqs at UIW before applying. She seemed to like it. She made friends and was also able to maintain a bit of a social life, so that's what got me interested. I want to be able to have family time as well. She was hired right out of the program too.

I thought about an accelerated program, but I want to be able to spend time with my family as well, and my sister-in-law was still Ble to go out at times and workout, travel during breaks. I don't want to sacrifice all of my time with my baby and husband.

All of those threads told me was that it was a personal interview and lasted about ten minutes. A couple of people seemed to have gotten acceptance letters very soon after their interviews as well. Someone out of state said they did a phone interview, but I only saw that in one thread.

I'm still a nervous wreck! I just want to get it done and know. July 1st seemed so long ago.

No worries! I am 27, so tell me about feeling old lol (b-day is in January ? lol). At least you have a degree coming your way before you start!

That is good to hear. I have heard nothing but good things about the program so I am also very excited to have gotten this far with them. I am worried about how time-consuming it will be because I want to be able to spend time with my son.

girl, I applaud you ?? amazing stats while raising a child is not an easy task. all I’m raising is a cat and she practically takes care of herself lol ? no I haven’t heard anything from them either! the anticipation is killing me!

yes! San Diego is beautiful! have you considered being a travel nurse when you graduate? you could move/work over here for several weeks, get paid a lot of money, and explore the city when you’re not working. there’s always something crazy happening in LA. especially central near LAC-USC and in the south bay area ? and giirrrrl lol it hurts just looking at the gas prices hahaha

The weather in San Diego is beautiful. I fell in love with the city which I did not expect. I do want to drive up to LA eventually but that is still in the works. When I was in San diego though, I would laugh whenever I saw LA on google maps because the traffic seems to always be red ?!

I actually have considered the idea of travel nursing, but I don't want to get ahead of myself. The concept of it sounds pretty cool though. I don't know if I will be able to with my son and all though. Is that what you want to do in the future?

yeah apparently there is no such thing as "rush hour" here because rush hour is all the time haha

There was a point where I was strongly considering it but as I started exploring all the possible nursing jobs it just became another option. volunteering gave me a lot of insight into the various roles a nurse can have and the different departments available. there's just so much we can do! this is all very exciting!

Has anyone heard anything about UIW yet? I currently attend there and still haven't been notified. I did talk to the front office today and they said this Friday or Monday at the very latest.
