UIW BSN to DNP

Published

Hi! Checking in to see if anyone is applying for the Spring 2018 start date at UIW Bsn to DNP program? Also if there is anyone that is in the program... Reviews and tips are greatly appreciated! Tia

NurseLaura.... Great! Are you in the San Antonio area?! Do you know how long it will take to here back from them? My app is complete and verified.... Just waiting now

Yes I live here in the San Antonio area:)

How about yourself?

My status is the same; I am just anxiously waiting. We should hear back sometime in October/November.

Class starts in January.

When I called earlier in the year and spoke to the program coordinator for the FNP track she said they had admitted 21 students for spring 2017.

What track did you apply to? Psych or Family?

I applied to Family. I live in the Fort Hood area. So if I get in I will be moving to San Antonio! And 21 students...yikes! I wonder if they get a lot of applicants. Not much talk about this program on forums. I spoke with them about clinicals and they said they try their best to set up clinicals for students without us having to get involved... Which is more than what most other schools offered.

There's really not alot of info so it's nice to know there's somewhere applying. It's a fairly new program. It started in 2014 which could be why there's so little info.

Yes 21 is not alot so I'm assuming there aren't very many applicants. That's wonderful news! I just hope the clinicals will work around my work schedule.

Killeen area is not too far away at all:)

Looks like the deadline changed to September 15th and on the program description they have changed the amount of credit hours from 80 to 77... I wonder why?

Maybe they didn't have enough applicants finish their application on time?? And that's 3 credits less so they must have dropped a course. Not sure how I feel about that... the program is already "condensed" so hope it wasn't a useful class.

NurseLaura have you applied to any other programs?

No.

I only knew of one BSN to DNP program which was the one UIW is offering. If I don't get into that program then I'll go ahead and apply for my MSN for fall of 2018 at UTHSCSA which is where I got my BSN.

What about you?

I only applied to UIW. Really like that you can get the DNP in 3 years. If I don't get in here I will start exploring other options for Fall 2018 also.

Do they have a white coat ceremony for this program? I know some schools do for NPs but not all. My family lives in Florida. It would be a good reason for them to visit me í ½í¸
