UIC Graduate Entry Program

Published

Hi folks,

Thinking about applying to UIC's GEP program. Anybody here applied and was accepted? What were your stats?

My stats: 3.2 Overall GPA/3.5 Sci BA in Sociology. Office Manager in home health care, tech in a medical equipment co, medical assistant (no cert) in dr's office and later office manager there. Volunteering in Nursing Home around 120 hours...

From what I can tell on their website, after completing the NCLEX, you immediately start the master portion of the program. Is this correct?

I was there. Which one were you? I was wearing the navy blue pant suit, named Elissa.

Ah I was the polka dotted blouse... One from SF... :)

How many were in your bunch rain? I don't think anyone in my group posts on here either. Hopefully the verdict will come sooner than later. I am dying of anticipation :/

She said we will know by the first week of may.

Oh okay I remember you, cool! I was the one from Houston.

Lovely! Yes, I remember you too. Were you the one with the flight right after?

I attended one of the first Adult-Geriatric Primary Care sessions yesterday--there were only 2 of us and one applicant who didn't show up. I noticed though there were a dozen people going off to every other interview.

I wonder if the earlier slots filled up first... It looked like that's what happened for the PNP sign ups. I'm hoping we hear back by end of next week. I'm very nervous!

@atanas, I interviewed for adult-gero acute care but was in the same situation; there were supposed to be 3 of us but one applicant didn't show up! The lobby did seem like a very busy place though.

Yea I was there yesterday morning for the occ health group interview, they combined us with the school nurse / fnp specialty for the info session (the majority of the masters curriculum is the same for both, FNP) . There were 16-18 of us total in the room. They started off by saying they were only going to accept 5 total from both specialties combined?!....and preceded to tell us other options for backup plans if we don't get in because it was very competitive this year....not the best way to start off an interview! But said we should know by the end of next week. Fingers crossed, good luck everyone

Yep that was me

Heya there, so for my session there was only 7 of us. I'm not sure about the 15th, but it would be great to know. I think Sitten is the only one on here that went to that session. I was going to ask the professors but opted not to. Although I was told they interview on average 25 applicants for the PMHNP 12-13 spots. So 50/50 chance pretty much.

I believe they told us in our session there would be 20 people total in the psych program including people outside the GEP program so 12-13 spots for GEP sounds high. I hope that's right though :) Who said it'd be 12-13 for GEP psych?

Wait, doesn't 20 sound better than 12-13? ...

One of the applicants said there were actually 6 dates for interviews. Which I find it very hard to believe because everyone received 3 dates.
