UIC AGMS INTERVIEW 2020

Published

Hello future nurses! Has anyone here applied for UIC's entry-level master's program for fall 2020? I applied but have not heard anything about interviews yet. I know they're supposed to be in late Feb. Also, anyone who has been accepted to DePaul but waiting for UIC? The waiting is killing me!

Thanks, y'all!

@Seri Lee

Pretty much. They gave me until April 30th to be added to the wait list. So I assume I will know if I am accepted a little after those that have been accepted make their decision.

@eg22

I agree. Just a number would be great LOL so people don't give their hopes up. Have you been accepted anywhere?

Unfortunately no. I am praying UIC works out. Just hoping for the best!

@eg22

Yeah I feel you. I know someone that was waitlisted and got in. So I wouldn't give up hope.

@eg22@RoRoMaMa

I'm pretty sure you guys will get in! ? Don't give up hope! Also stay safe!

@Seri Lee

Thank you and yes trying to stay safe and practicing good social distance.

Did the Nebraska school give you a deadline too? Is it also a masters entry? Would you be basing your decision off I guess cost of tuition because you're outta state?

@RoRoMaMa

I was accepted to DePaul's Summer program and I'm so regretting applying for the Summer semester because I've heard some people get taken off the waitlist just a couple of weeks before classes start! I should have applied for the fall. Hopefully, we hear back soon!

@trhchicago

I see. Did you already put a deposit down for depaul ? So you're going to decide between depaul and uic? Uic we won't hear back till like mid may after they get final decisions to admitted students. But I think you can change your session entrance to fall for depaul as well. That was one of my questions

Below is the woman I called:

If you don't want to start in the Summer while you wait for uic I'd call her.

@RoRoMaMa

I did email her and she said I could defer to Spring. But I also felt like it wasn't fair to other students or to the admissions office to move me around ( I had already paid my intent to enroll). I also did some research and found out that deferring your admission to wait to hear back from another school is unethical and could get you removed from both programs. Not sure if that would really happen, I probably read too much into it and scared myself LOL.

I mainly wanted to go to UIC because it's cheaper and better but right now interest rates are at 0 for federal and really low for private so I'm less concerned now. Also, I'm on furlough right now and don't know when I'll be working again (I work in restaurants). After our first semester of clinicians, we can work as PCTs or CNAs. It's kinda nice to have that to fall back on at the end of the year. This pandemic is making me consider lots of things I didn't think about when applying.

@RoRoMaMa

I went to the mock interviews and one girl there said she heard back after being on the waitlist for a week. I think the waitlist is rolling, people won't accept their offer, can't afford school, won't pass their pre reqs...

@trhchicago

What is the Summer 2020 session for depaul start date? I wouldnt read too much into it. LOL people change their minds all the time. And yeah I didn't think of it like that. People have till may 1st but they more than likely would decide well before then. You're right. I'd hate to lose my deposit LOL but uic is about 12k less than depaul.

@RoRoMaMa

Start date is June 15th, I think I'm just going to stick with it. At the end of the day, we sit for the same test and we're all going to get hired somewhere ?

@trhchicago

Exactly! I wouldnt risk it. Simply because uic will send out decisions anywhere from next week to a week before the start of the program. DePaul is a great school. And theres plenty of hospitals that have loan assistance and all that.

I'm very happy for you ?
