UI Chicago GEP Spring 2012

Published

Anyone planning to apply to UIC's GEP for winter/spring 2012? (http://www.uic.edu/nursing/prospectivestudents/gep-about.shtml) The application opened on January 15 and is due March 1.

I just finished the primary application and am waiting to receive the secondary application to send out recommendation requests. Their application cycle is a bit odd and inconvenient, since most other places that start in the fall require deposits by late March into early April, and UIC doesn't inform you of your status until late April. But in the end, it's still a great program and worth a shot.

Hi ruthieb -- Mine was sent by Julie Kim. I'm not sure if other people recieved anything from the specialization area or not. Hope that helps!

Congrats to everyone especially those ACNP people! I too was accepted for the ACNP. I am just confused with the Dean making a final decision, does this mean we should still pursue other programs b/c its not 100%??

My e-mail was from Julie Kim and I applied for PNP.

swimmer- I am pretty sure it is 100% because I was told that the Graduate school just makes sure that your GPA and scores are okay. In the letter I got it said "The College of Nursing recommends admission and the Graduate College approves them. They usually follow our recommendations and I do not see any reason why they would not in this case." And since they are asking for your deposit I think it's pretty certain you have a spot.

Congrats everyone! I actually turned down my spot for FNP because I was taken off Rush's waitlist to start in June. I emailed Julie Kim and she said that the next person off the waitlist will be admitted!

I just received an e-mail from Julie! Accepted for Adult/Geri! What an emotional roller coaster the last few days have been.

I have been waitlisted. I am literally drowning in my tears but I will be fine. I am starting my application to Yale, and other schools, and this time, it's going to be so many schools at a time. Congratulations to all who made it!

I wanted this so bad, I still want it so bad

Don't give up Softenny. I was waitlisted at Rush and I know how you feel. I was so afraid I might be waitlisted again here. It's a real blow to the self confidence. Ask Julie for some feedback as to why you were waitlisted. I know I was able to get that from Rush and it was extremely helpful in my application at UIC.

If anyone in the program is interested in getting together for a celebratory drink/dinner, let me know. There's a great Italian restaurant, Tufano's, five minutes from the CON. It would be a great place for all of us to meet. I guess the 60 or so of us will be spending a lot of time together starting in January!

Congrats everyone! I'm looking forward to meeting everyone (and buzz again without any crazy post-interview-stress-my-deer-in-headlights look!!)

softenny- you shouldn't give up hope. People have been accepted pretty late in the summer! Being waitlisted is better than being declined any day!!! You should keep positive and I know how much you want it and if you don't get in this year then you'll be an incredible candidate next year that's back with a vengeance!!

RMWC -- when did you interview? I'm wondering if we bumped into each other. I interviewed at 9:30 on Apr. 4th.

Now that you say that, I think we did run into each other. Possibly in the lobby? I interviewed April 4th at 9:00.
