UHV - Sugarland/Katy Second Degree BSN

Anyone applying to UHV - Sugarland/Katy Second Degree BSN (Spring 2010) program?

I was told they should be receiving their accreditation in October and just curious if anyone out there is also applying.

jplamb,

I spoke to someone this afternoon around 2:00pm and she said the same thing, but that she wasn't sure if the letters had gone out today. She did say that e-mails notifying those who got accepted should be done by tomorrow or by the weekend. If we don't receive anything by this weekend or early next week, it maybe that we did not get in and will be receiving the official denial letter by the 15th. But if accepted, you will definitely hear something by tomorrow/Saturday if not by early next week.

Trust me, the suspense is killing so I know how you feel. I wanted to know if I could find out today as well since I have to give notice to my current employer. I would hate to have to tell them that I got in during the Holidays and not give them ample time to find a replacement. At the same time while excited, I don't want to jump the gun.

Don't worry, this waiting period will be worth it. :)

Yeah my employer is on hold too. And its not an easy replacement position.

I don't like this at all. I am afraid if I quit then I wouldn't get in, and if I didn't quit then I would be accepted. But, i definately need to hurry and find out.

I want to know exactly what they were looking for in terms of evaluating our essays that will or wont qualify us for the program?

pwr,

While in the really REALLY long line for discrepancies, a couple of students and I got to talk to the dean while she was walking by and she basically told us that it's about "how well" we answered the question. Based on that, and of course this is just my opinion, I gather that they want to see how eloquently we were able to put our words down under pressure with that 10 minute time limit. I would also think that they would see if we were able to follow simple directions like making sure we knew our UHV email account information (since that was part of the mandatory requirements on the interview invitation) and not e-mailing from personal e-mail accounts, etc.

My position also isn't one that can't be easily replaced. I'm in a marketing team that consists of me and one other girl and it'll take weeks if not a month of so to fully train someone. :(

I'm glad we're doing this thread otherwise I'd be going crazy. I don't even want to say how frequently I check me email every day :). So it sounds like friday's likely the day....looking forward to it! And if all goes well...lookin' forward to meeting the faces behind the messages.

if any of you employed people need a replacement, put in a good word for me if i don't get in! haha!

OK everyone, check your UHV emails....I just recieved my acceptance letter like 5 minutes ago.I'm sooo excited.I will repost on the other posts since more members are on that one.Good luck!!!

Hi everyone, I've made a new thread for all of us to post in, as our original threads were moved to a new section of the website. Please continue posting in the thread entitled:

University of Houston-Victoria 2nd Degree Program Jan2010!

Hey everyone,

I got an acceptance letter through the UHV email and they also sent one via snail mail. I got it last Friday. It was really quick.

Specializes in LTC, Rehab.

I was not accepted, and I'm dumbfounded. But this is not just a 'sour grapes' comment. I had high grades, and I thought I wrote a good solid answer to their ONE question. I was very surprised that we only got ONE question, as were some others I talked to, as I was that we were not interviewed, not asked for resumes, not talked to about our previous careers - anything. They could've asked us 5-6 questions and given us an hour to respond; instead, in 3 hours, they only spent TEN MINUTES trying to differentiate any of us. And on the 'being able to use our email account', they didn't say in that invitation email that we would need to be able to use it ON THE INTERVIEW DAY, but only that we 'needed to be able to use it'. I had accessed it numerous times, but didn't bring the password because the instructions were not clear.

In any case, good luck to all, whether you were accepted or not. I shouldn't have put all of my eggs in one basket, but I also can't believe the way that they decided on those of us 'finalists'.

Has everyone purchased all of their supplies? If so, have you purchased the black fanny pack and small retractable tape measure? I went to Walmart, Michaels, and Target and they didn't have them. I think Walmart did but were sold out of the small tape measures.

Thanks in advance and can't wait to see everyone again in a couple of days! :)

I got the black fanny pack at PRN. I also saw the tape measures there as well. When you walk into the store, on the right hand side there is a wall with stethoscopes, goggles, pen lights, etc. The tape measure is there. On the opposite side of the same wall are the fanny packs.

djh123,

I agree with you completely. I do not know how they can choose based on one question. I also got an interview with the school and I am in the top 40% which is not very high i guess - could you please tell me what percent you were ranked?
