Hi all, anybody out there applying for this program? I haven't seen an updated thread on it yet. I just finished applying to UHV- just waiting on NursingCAS to receive my final transcript for my application to be considered "complete" I'm also applying to UTHSCH UTHSCSA accelerated programs, and TWU-Houston traditional BSN program. I have my B.S. in Human Biology from UT Austin in Spring 2010. My undergrad GPA was definitely less than stellar, but all my pre-req coursework is not too bad. What is y'alls impression of this program?
Hi @dovecruz01 (: Oh no I've only been accepted to one. I've applied to 5 other schools. I got an 83% on my TEAS V and way below a 3.0 on my overall gpa from college, a ~3.2 prereq gpa and a ~3.8 on science prereqs. The schools that I've focused on are the ones that require a statement because that is where I can give them an idea of who I am and why I want to be a nurse so they won't judge me solely based on my scores . But there are some like UHV that may give some students like me a chance for an interview, maybe

Awesome! Those were all the ones I was considering...but application fees are EXPENSIVE and they add up! lol Also, I think you're competitive if you are able to apply to all of those. My cumulative GPA of all college coursework is like 2.847...I don't even meet the "minimum," however, I emailed the nursing people and asked if I should apply and they said it might be worth a shot if I did well on the TEAS. I ended up getting a 93.3% on that exam, so she said I should.
That is why I think they calculate their own averages. If they look at my "natural science" GPA that NursingCAS gives, it would not be hot. However, separate nursing pre-req and science courses, those GPAs are well above 3.5. So...we'll see.
