UHV Second Degree BSN Spring 2014 Applicants

Hi all, anybody out there applying for this program? I haven't seen an updated thread on it yet. I just finished applying to UHV- just waiting on NursingCAS to receive my final transcript for my application to be considered "complete" I'm also applying to UTHSCH UTHSCSA accelerated programs, and TWU-Houston traditional BSN program. I have my B.S. in Human Biology from UT Austin in Spring 2010. My undergrad GPA was definitely less than stellar, but all my pre-req coursework is not too bad. What is y'alls impression of this program?

Has anyone heard anything from UHV??

No based on last year's thread, I don't believe we should to expect to hear if we are invited to the interview until late October or early November...

No, I don't think the board is even meeting to review our applications until the end of this month, so I don't think they have made any decisions yet!

What other schools did you apply to?

I applied to UT's AE-MSN program and NYU..

I still want to apply to UTMB, UT Houston, and Texas A&M

My top choices are UT Houston, UH Victoria, and UT AEMSN program..

Hopefully the competition at UHV won't be as tough since they require a previous bachelor's degree. I hate waiting longer to find out, but maybe some of the people who applied to other schools (UTHSC, UTMB) in addition to UHV are getting accepted right now - and accepting those spots - so that will hopefully free up some spots for us at UHV when the time comes :) At least that's what I'm hoping! I also applied to UTHSC but have not heard anything yet...

Hi ya'll!! :) So I'd be extremely surprised if I even get an interview invitation from UHV. I am so not competitive. This school did not ask for a personal statement-only scores and my scores are not that pretty. I already got accepted to one school but I still want to see what UHV says!

Are ya'll from Houston? I can't wait to get started with the program and be a nurse!!!

Hi Jenny! My scores aren't all that great either At least we can pray for an interview so they can see our awesome personalities! :)

I'm from Houston (Katy). Hopefully we will hear something from UHV about interviews soon!!

What other school were you accepted to? I applied to UTHSC but haven't heard anything yet...hopefully they will be sending out the second wave of acceptances next week. I think UHV is my first choice though!

So because I personally feel I am not competitive I applied to 6 accelerated programs! And if I was not going to get accepted to any of them then I would've applied to four more and then just keep on trying.

I got accepted at Texas Tech University in El Paso and invited for an interview in TTU in Austin. I also applied to UTHSC in San Antonio, TWU, UTMB and to UHV. I'm like for not applying for UTMB's Spring semester, by the time I thought about it, the application was closed. I also considered UT-Houston but the deadline for Spring was before I finished my summer prereqs.

So my plans are for El Paso so far but am rooting for Austin. It'll be cool if I get into UHV because then expenses would be less :)
