UH Manoa GEPN Cohort 2018

Published

I know it is still early on, but are any of you applying to University of Hawaii's Graduate Entry Program in Nursing (GEPN) for fall 2018?

What educational background is everyone coming from? Any health related experience?

For any previous students in this program, how is the first year of course work? Any advice for those planning on applying?

I'm considering applying for the Master of Science track in Advanced Population Health Nursing.

Thank you and good luck to everyone! :)

Hey everyone,

I haven't been receiving notifications to my e-mail when someone posts on this forum. If anyone is having trouble being added to the facebook group, send me a PM on my private facebook page. I'll make sure to get you added. What type of error message are you guys receiving?

Hey Everyone!

First of all, congratulations to those of you who got in! =D I got my conditional acceptance for the FNP track a couple weeks ago! It would be awesome if we all met before the start of school! I can't wait to meet you all!

P.S. I tried to join the UH Manoa GEPN Cohort 11 Group with my UH email, but it wouldn't let me >_

Hi! May I ask what a conditional acceptance is? I am still waiting to hear back my status. I submitted a month ago and have been anxious waiting. Congratulations to those who got accepted!!!

@LI808,

Conditional acceptance is being accepted on the condition that you complete the pre-requisite classes by the time the program begins in August.

Hii @kelseymt, I have few questions. Did you have medical experience and if you don't mind me asking, what was your GPA for your prerequisites? I'm planning to submit my application by this week and I'm applying for FNP program too.

Hey!! In regards to medical experience, I currently work as a CNA at a nursing home. I was also a office manager at a medical spa and have also had experience working at a plastic surgery office. I wouldn't say that the last two necessarily count as "medical experience" because they weren't hands-on, but I did get some knowledge from those positions. I took all of my pre-req courses at UHM or KCC and was able to get an A in all of those courses (my college GPA was definitely NOT a 4.0 though!) If you have any other questions, just let me know! Good luck with your application, @ekim17!

Yeah, I also tried to join with my UH email but it wouldn't let me! Will try to pm you!

So wait, for those of you who have been accepted, you received an email first and then a physical letter a few days later right? I just want to confirm because I was told that my physical letter should be mailed out this week, and I'm reallyyyyy hoping for an email to come first so I don't have to wait around for a letter to show up

Hello everyone!

My name is Lesia and I'll be in the APHN track! I tried joining the Facebook group as well, but haven't received the confirmation email to my @hawaii.edu account... anyone else have that issue?

Both of mine came around the same time, but I'm pretty sure the email was first. Any news?

I got my email first before my letter. I think I got the email about 3-4 days before my letter arrived

Hello, Congratulations to all of you who got in! I am currently a GEPN Cohort 10 student and to answer a questions about traveling during the first year, you will probably only be able to leave the island for winter break, other than that you have to be in didactic or clinical almost everyday.
