I am starting a thread for UFV, Sept 2013 applicants (thus the title)
I am a Jan 2013 reject and hoping for a spot in the fall. Is anyone here a repeat applicant?
Hello all,
I have been accepted in the 3 year fast track program for the fall intake. I was wondering if anybody know what our schedule's going to be like. I know we'll be given the schedule on the first day of school, but thought it would be helpful if I know a little something earlier. I have to decide on whether I will be commuting from home or I should find a place nearby. Let me know! Thanks~~
Hi MichMm,
Congratulations on your acceptance!! :)
As for the schedule, like others have mentioned, the schedules will basically 0830-1550 Mon-Fri for the majority of the first semester. Your schedule will more than likely change every week and certain people may be in class while some are out in the community, some may be in lab while some are doing something else. So your schedule will be quite varied weekly, especially more so as you go up in the later semesters. Clinical wise, you won't be in clinical until mid-Nov ish and that will be two days a week for about 4 weeks. Of course the non-nursing courses like pharmacology, english, psych, etc. will be outside of the timetable of 0830-1550. Your A&P and Patho will be integrated within the 0830-1550 schedule. Pharmacology (in your 2nd semester) has typically been on Thursday from 1830-2130 for the past few years (don't worry - the instructor doesn't actually go until 2130!)
This is what the schedule short of looks like for the upcoming semesters (this may not be 100% accurate tho!):
Semester 1: classes 4-5 days a week; beginning Nov, classes are 2-3 days a week and 2 days of clinical a week.
Semester 2: classes 2-3 days a week (mostly 3 days); 2 days of clinical (starts at around the 3rd week of the semester)
Semester 3: classes 2-3 days a week (mostly 3 days); 2 days of clinical (starts at around the 2nd week of the semester)
Semester 4 & 5: classes 2-3 days a week (mostly 2 days); 2 days of clinical (starts at the 1st or 2nd week of the semester)
Your English class shouldn't conflict with your nursing course, so I am not too sure what's happening there. Were you given a specific CRN for ENGL 105? I would definitely contact one of the nursing coordinators to ensure the schedules do not overlap. It is much more important for you to be in clinical than attending your English classes since nursing is a very practical and hands-on profession. So I would strongly suggest of attending your clinicals (I doubt the instructors would allow you to miss clinical anyhow!) . But again, I would double check that the course you registered for is the correct one because the schedule should not conflict.
A little over a month away!!! :)
Remember to RSVP to the NSNO that is happening August 27th! That's coming up fast!

Hello all,
I have seen a few of these forums and thought it was time to make an account so I could ask all of you a few questions... Here's a bit about myself.. I graduated in 2012 and have been working in the oil rigs for the last year so I can pay for school and will be attending UFV this September to do my chem 083 (equivalent to chem 11) and 2 more classes (depends on waitlists but eng 105, pysc 101, or soc 101). I am currently volunteering at a seniors home and will have a little over 100 hrs when I apply. I also have 91% in eng 12, 83% in math 11, 85% in bio and I am wondering for those who got accepted for Sept 2013 what they had so I can compare and see if I should be doing any upgrading. I have my doubts as I am sure many of you did and am looking for some insight. I am also hoping someone can provide me with some information on what is asked in the interview and anything else that will affect me getting accepted. Any insight is much appreciated. Thanks.

Can anyone tell me whether we are supposed to register solely for first semester/term or for the full year of courses?
