Ufv 2021 fall nursing

Hey everyone,

This is a thread for everybody applying for the UFV Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program for the Fall (September) 2021 intake.

We can talk about our grades and GPA's, volunteer or work experience's, other schools we're applying to and so forth.

I submitted my application beginning of October when the applications opened up and applied with 3 A’s and 1 B in Pre calc 11. I also have about 800 hours at a hospital and 80 hours at a care home.

Good Luck everybody!

If I was to restart this program, I would study very differently than I did when I first started off. It is only natural to learn your study method as you move through the nursing program, but it would have been so helpful to study the way I do now back in semester 1. My current study method is as the following. I start by compiling information addressed in my readings/assigned articles with that listed on the powerpoints. This helps me put all the information together. While I do this, I also make flashcard questions through Notion to connect information addressed in the class with larger concepts and key topics that are listed and may show up on the exam, such as treatments, symptoms, complications, etc of specific conditions. Making questions while I compile information helps me connect information listed on multiple slides of my powerpoint together and helps me form connections with the information, especially when I write the information in my own words after reading it in the textbook. After this, I put my flashcards into Anki and study them consistently throughout the semester. Spaced repetition reduces the amount I have to study before the exams and ensures that I understand the information very well. It also gives me more time to spend on assignments like the term paper.

To answer your second question: I can't really give you any advice for first semester specifically because it's been so long. However, I can advise you to spend the MOST amount of time on studying for the nursing 201 exam, followed by the nursing 202 exam, and spend the least amount of time on nursing 203. Your theory classes will always require more memorization and the ethics classes will require more understanding for the exams. Also, I encourage you to try different methods of studying if you have not yet found what works for you. It's so important that you master how to make notes and approach readings/powerpoints as you move forward in your nursing career (the readings only get longer and the content only harder as you keep going)!
