2015 UF BSN Admissions

Hey guys! So I just joined allnurses, but I have been watching the forums for the UF BSN Admissions for a while. I realized there is not an active one yet for 2015 and I would like to get it started! I know we all are anxious still from letting go of our applications April 5 and now we are waiting until June to hear the results! I am currently a UF student and I am really hoping to get into this fantastic program. I hope to attract students that were previously accepted to hear what they have to say about the admissions process and the program itself! Essentially, I wanted a place where I could discuss my nervousness with people that understand! (Plus, I know everyone is curious as to what caliber of students we are facing this year as well!!)

Who else out there applied for Fall 2015?

I am in a way afraid to call and ask, since I've called a few times before the application was due and I mostly got a response, "I sent an email about that", but the problem is I took Wanda Washington's advice on looking for a back up major, and the back up that I chose required prereqs that could only be taken by those who have declared that major, so my major doesn't show up as nursing and I'm not a part of the listserve for prenursing students. I can totally understand him being very busy this time of year. I did just call the general nursing office and the lady said we would know by the end of June. I think they choose the mail letters for one because sometimes people don't receive emails on time (either their email was hacked and they got a new email account, or some other things that could cause a delay). Just my thoughts, this hasn't been verified!

I also think people aren't making posts because they're so confident in getting in, maybe they have like close to 4.0 GPA, I have no idea. They could also be stalking other posts like I was doing at first. So many things it could be. Plus, most other posts from the past appeared to be transfer students anyways.

So what have you all been involved in?

UFGal, I'll make sure to post on this thread in case we receive any emails with updates! I'm hoping that this coming week they will verify how we will find out. Since Ken told me this past Monday he still wanted to email, I would assume that by the middle of next week they'll know if that's possible or not! I'm sure we will know soon :) The wait is hard though! haha

I'm a current UF student and I'm in the Marching Band, and I also volunteered for both my Freshman at Sophomore year at UF! What about you?

Yes the wait is very hard! Thanks for your willingness to keep me updated, that's great.

Well my freshman year I volunteered at Shands and with After School Gators, my sophomore year I volunteered at St. Francis House for Spring.

As for other involvement, I've been a part of two clubs at UF. I'm not sure if this matters to them, but since freshman year I've worked at UF's College of Dentistry Continuing Edu. office. Also, for a few months now, I've had another part time job

Cool! I would assume that they take all your extracurriculars/volunteering/jobs into account if you included them on your app!

Well, I think checking the mail has become an everyday habit now, even though I know it's not even week 3 yet, and today is a Sunday hahaha..

Don't worry- I thought it was strange that nobody had made a thread about this yet either. That's why I started one for the ABSN. I just heard back from the CON, so you guys might be finding out soon! I hope to meet some of you at Orientation :) Just so you know, Public Health is a great background for nursing if you don't get in for upper division.

MegGusta, are you in the accelerated program? If so how are you liking it so far? I'd be interested to hear how it compares to the Generic BSN program! :)

I just got accepted! I know a little bit about it since my partner just graduated the generic program and she knew some second bacs. It is squished into four semesters as opposed to 5. In one semester, I will have 3 clinicals... Other than that, it doesn't sound too different.

Are you going to be attending UF? The accelerated program here begins in the summer so that's why I was wondering if you liked it so far! If not, congrats on your acceptance wherever you will be starting! :)
