UDC LPN Program Fall 2010

Published

Hi,

Is anyone attending the fall 2010 lpn program at UDC?

I was in the same situation and I felt the exact the same way you do right now...I don't think that it's that competitive, but I don't know the actual number of applicants for my class. But I hope and pray that you'll receive your acceptance letter. You said, "All I need is a chance and I'll run with it." That's my motto.

Lifesdream,

sorry to hear that your interview wasn`t that good, but dont get discouraged, b/c I think if it was that competitive, they wouldn`t be continuing interviews at this time, so i`m pretty sure you are in. After my interview, I receive the letter few days later, and it was dated the day right after my interview, even tough the lady told me how she needed to meet with her comity first. So I am sure we will be together on the 18th.

Spete39, I wish you all the best for your last test, I can`t wait to get a that point too, waiting for the last results.

Thank you for the tip on the books, b/c the latest edition are so expensives.

I have a concern about the uniform, should we absolutly buy them at fentons uniform in Sylver spring, they are kind of expensive and I like to have many uniforms, so my bill will be kind of high with them.

And what about those 2 excused absence, you can`t miss more than 2 classes? lol

Lifesdream please can you tell me about those scholarships other student were filling out? I trying to find some financial aid, but it is hard.

Another concern Spete39, how does it work wih the classes, for example the first term, we have a&p, basic, fundamental and nutrition. Is it one class at a time, meaning today we do this one only, or we can have two at the same time. And what is the frequence of tests?

Sorry for all those questions, I am so excited and worried.

Spete 39,

I sent a prayer to you for your exam. I hope all went well. Thanks for the encouragement about the interview. I'll see what happens from here.

Nursetobe,

If you're a DC resident there appears to be alot of programs associated with workforce development that will help if not cover your tuition. The people that were filling out the scholarships were submitting something for UDC I'm not sure how much they cover but I do know that a student was writing an essay while I was there. She was going to apply for the March 2011 class. Definately check with the LPN program because there are opportunities out there. I think Spete 39 sent out details about the DC workforce development program in a previous post. Check it out. You may get lucky!

Thank you Liufesdream, I will check and see.

Let me know when you receive your letter. I`m sure it will be positive.

@ lifedream: thank you soooooo much, and i pray that you'll receive your acceptance letter.

@nursetobe: even though my uniforms were covered by my workforce development grant, i still purchased extra uniforms from forman mills in temple hills (i didn't go to the one on rhode island ave because it was still under construction)....the shirt and pants together only cost $7.99, and i think they also sold white lab coats, but i'm not sure about the burgundy jackets....and i also saw some white nursing shoes at kmart for $17.99...i know the uniform shop they recommend is ridiculously expensive, so i suggest you take my advice to save a ton of money...as long as your scrubs and lab coats are white and your clinical jacket is burgundy you'll be ok.

about the absences....you can only miss 2 days per class....for example, if you miss 2 days from anatomy then you'll be ok...or if you miss 2 days from nutrition, then you'll be ok....from my understanding classes that have a lecture and clinical component are separate, so if you miss 2 days for fundamentals lecture and miss 2 days for fundamentals clinical then you'll be ok....i'm not sure if the 2 absences are excused or unexcused....every time i had a doctors note to leave early or arrive late for clinicals my instructor told me don't worry about it and that she trust me...so i don't think all of the instructors are that nice about it....but i'm sure if you have a good excuse for your instructor then they probably won't count it against you....trust me, i know there are many of my classmates who missed more than 2 days, and they made it to the finish line.

about classes...you will have 1 class per day...we had anatomy on mon&weds, fundamentals on tues&thurs, and nutrition on fridays....i'm not even gonna lie to you, i think we had a test everyday

Thank you for those information. I' releive for the uniforms, I know forman mills and use to get my uniforms there. I'm glad that it is not an. Obligation to go to fentons.

Please 1 last concern when do clinicala start, I mean how manyvweeks?

No problem...I'll definitely let you guys know about my journey...And thank you all for your prayers. :)

Hi Everyone,

I got my letter this weekend. I was accepted. Yay!!! but why am I feeling nervous and second guessing it? Maybe because I have a week to figure out how I'm going to pay for it and get all of my supplies within 1 week. Oh well bring it on I'm in and on my way. Thanks to everyone who added to this post. Your guidance really prepared me for the UDC pre-entrance process, I wouldn't have gotten through it with my sanity without you. Please keep us updated on your journey.
