Hi,
I have the goal of becoming a CNM. A FNP I work for, when he found out I was looking into Frontier School of Nursing, said that even though he did not know much about this school, he highly recommended staying away from correspondence schools. I told his I had been thinking of the nurse midwife program through UCSF, however, because I am married and living is S.F. is by no means in my budget, that I did not think it was possible. He told me that USCF allows you to train for one whole week a month for about 18 months so you do not have to live there, and that their focus is teaching their students how to deal with medical care in rural areas (where I am).
However, I think he got UCSF mixed up and was talking about UC Davis, which does not have a nurse midwife program but FNP and PA program. Does any one know if the midwifery program through UCSF has a program similar to the FNP program out of Davis? (not having to live there and just go to classes one week out of the month for a year and a half while you train in your own area)
