UCSF MEPN 2022

Published

I applied for UCSF MEPN for 2022! Anyone else going crazy waiting for an interview invite? Has anyone gotten an interview invite?

I also applied for pmhnp. I personally don’t remember half of the interview because of my anxiety ??

Specializes in applicants for nursing schools.

So anxious and nervous. Sleepless nights.
I applied for the AGPCNP.
I also hope they review my application again before the final decision rather than making decision based on only interview. I just can’t stop thinking about better version of answers to some interview questions. Hopefully we hear from UCSF tomorrow!

I agree! I rather just find out already whether I got in or rejected. It will help with the anxiety so I can move forward with either planning to move to SF or plan what my next steps are going to be to obtain my goal. My entire life atm is on hold pending this decision. I’m hoping for the best. I’m super passionate about mental health/nursing and I hope they captured that. Haha I want enough time to get my finances in order for this transition.

True! I know the waiting game is probably the most painful part RN. I'm sure everyone they interviewed is super brilliant and amazing in their own right so even if I get rejected I would be happy that I was able to make it this far.

Fingers crossed to get in tho! My whole team at work is rooting for me and I'm soo scared to let them down >:

Hahaha I feel like we are on the same boat! My entire workplace is rooting for me all the way up to the assistant director of behavioral health so I would hate to get rejected. I feel like what would suck is to go back and have to ask for letters again to reapply. But what is meant to be will happen. I’m sure we both will get in and become classmates this Summer!?

I would love to be classmates so badly ??!! Even though I hella love what I do, Im ready to see what’s out there and make a difference ?

I was a MEPN. It seems like the MPEN program gets more competitive each year and some of you are definitely overqualified. If you think you are overqualified, consider med schools, too. You may be unhappy during the program because of stigma and limitations. The program is as almost long as the med program. Before joining the program, know why you want to be a NP, not a MD. Good luck, everyone.

I’d love to hear more about what you mean by stigma?

I can open a whole new thread about this issue. Medicine still has a hierarchical culture and I do face the stigma of "poorly educated" compared to MD colleagues. I can argue about this all day but my point is, ask yourself why you want this profession instead of others.

Hey! I can see where the stigma comes from. I work alongside many psychiatrist and we have this discussion all the time. It is the main reason why I chose UCSF because I want to get the best education available so I can be a competent provider. They always talk about how sometimes due to the lack of experience many NP’s may miss diagnosis or px wrong medications. You definitely have to be passionate about the profession and education in general because your actively treating patients just as doctors but you don’t have the same education or training. But I know for sure NP is the right path for myself and it’s the best way I can serve the community.
