The MEPN deadline is less than 2 months away, so I thought I'd get a thread started for us 2012 hopefuls!
I'm a first time applicant to the WHNP/CNM specialty, and feel like I've been getting ready to submit this application for so long! I've been working abroad for a public health NGO for the past couple of years and am a trained birth doula. I've finished up all of my prereqs and GREs, selected people for recommendations (including a slightly awkward visit to my undergraduate advisor...), so now I'm just drafting my essays. Does anyone even know what the application is supposed to look like this year? I'm just going off samples I've seen from previous years.
Some days I feel sort of confident about my chances, and other days I feel as though this is a total shot in the dark and definitely not going to work out!
Any other hopefuls out there? And anyone know when the application is actually going to open?
Not much was mentioned about financial aid. It's kind of a stressful atmosphere, just because of the CA economic crisis, tuition skyrocketing, etc. It seemed to dampen people's attitudes. I think it's good to be realistic about it, though. The likelihood that this program will just get more and more expensive over time seems pretty certain.
I'm actually spending the time getting together with friends who I likely won't get to see very much if I start school in June. I thought the interview process was a good experience and really enjoyed meeting all of the other candidates. I'm excited.
That would be awesome if we found out at the end of February! Since you mentioned that, I started reading past threads and that has consumed the past couple hours of my life haha. It does look like last year's cohort found out around Feb 23rd, but the previous year's cohort found out around March 10th. The wait is killing me! I have a couple of offers and would like to make a decision soon, but UCSF is my top choice and if they miraculously accept me, the decision would be easy.
Thank you thuyd527 for saving us hours of browing through the past 2 years of threards to find those answers for us :) I did that for another program and it totally comsumed my day. I am very appreciative of the summary haha
