Hi,
Is there anyone lurking who is planning to apply to the 2011 program?
I have spent the last 12 years in financial marketing/communications and am excited to try and change paths into nursing. I am currently taking my prerequisite courses at city college- stats and anatomy/physiology- and going in for the GRE Saturday. I'm volunteering at a children's hospital, which is causing me to consider the pediatric nurse practitioner track... I know UCSF is very competitive and it's a long-shot for someone like me to get in, but I feel like I have to try! If it doesn't happen next year, then I'll just keep building my volunteer experience and re-apply. Also on my mind is that if for some miracle I were to get in how I would pay for it.
But enough about me... what are some other candidates' takes on preperation, interests, anxieties, etc?
Well, I'm still not done with the personal statement... I thought I gave myself plenty of time but I am struggling with how much to focus on adversities versus opportunities... I really don't want to sound like a pity party you know? How did the rest of you decide how much emphasis to put for each? Almost done everyone... I feel like I'm living, breathing, and dreaming the MEPN application -- ideas come to me in the middle of the night "oh! that would sound great on my statement!" --it will be nice to relax a bit after locking the application.
The language thing is a whole other pickle... I also don't want to over or understate. I was fluent in Spanish when living in central america and use a lot of basic spanish in my day-to-day life, but I'm not fluent in the way that I used to be...I'm sure with a little practice between now and interviews I could nearly re-gain fluency but I don't want to be put on the spot... definitely let us know about the language portion, thanks!
Hello Everyone. I think that this may have been mentioned at some point before but can I lock my application without all of my LOR's in? I cannot believe that someone has not yet turned it in but he has it. I am finished and would like to lock it. Does that mean he will not be able to submit it these last few days if I do that?
Thanks!
Hi everyone! Took my GRE on August 6th..still doesn't show as recieved on my application. When I took the test, I asked the proctors about where to input the specific UCSF School of Nursing codes that some of you had so generously provided on here but they said that it was suffice by choosing "UCSF" and "SCHOOL OF NURSING" in their pull down menus. I hope this is the case.....

I was in the same boat, and just realized I had used a registration number from my GRE ticket, which is not the same number provided on my score sheet from them. I just logged into mygre.com, saw a different number, tried adding it to my application, and immediately it said "SCORE REPORT RECEIVED"... which felt good. Don't know where the number mixup happened but you could double check that.

Thank you so much! When I get home i am going to try inputting the number i find on my scores and see if that helps! :)

Hey midwifebaby1, thanks so much!!! I feel really relieved. I thought I had sent in my transcript before, but it didn't show up under education, like my other transcripts did, so I've been worried all day. thanks a lot =)
Hi junipers, yeah, I'll let you know what they say when I call Monday.
