Hi,
Is there anyone lurking who is planning to apply to the 2011 program?
I have spent the last 12 years in financial marketing/communications and am excited to try and change paths into nursing. I am currently taking my prerequisite courses at city college- stats and anatomy/physiology- and going in for the GRE Saturday. I'm volunteering at a children's hospital, which is causing me to consider the pediatric nurse practitioner track... I know UCSF is very competitive and it's a long-shot for someone like me to get in, but I feel like I have to try! If it doesn't happen next year, then I'll just keep building my volunteer experience and re-apply. Also on my mind is that if for some miracle I were to get in how I would pay for it.
But enough about me... what are some other candidates' takes on preperation, interests, anxieties, etc?
ju-loy, I didn't delete anyone... I just added her again but with a different e-mail; but now I don't think I can add my last recommender because she is in the system twice...argh...by the way, she checked her spam both times and nothing showed up, so there is definitely a problem here... I will contact the school tomorrow; technology is clearly imperfect...
doulamama: i feel your frustration! at least two of your recommenders got something. all four of mine haven't received a thing my application says that i can send out the reminder email tomorrow so i'm crossing my fingers that the second time's a charm! if i ever get in touch with the school i will let you know if i get any info about this ASAP.
ju-loy: i coulda sworn i read something about sending LORs via mail as a back-up too. i'm thinking that may be our best bet if we can't get this to work before the deadline. i've been calling them all day and no one has been picking up and for some reason, the past two emails i sent them have bounced back!
and yeah, i had my recommenders check their SPAM folders and there was nothing. i'm wondering if there was some sort of glitch in the application system if you sent your LORs out after a certain date? if anyone else is having this problem and may have any helpful info, please share!
hey guys!
i finally got a hold of someone at the UCSF nursing office. i guess they changed their voicemail because now it says to call a different number due to renovation issues. if you call that number someone should pick up.
when i called, i asked about my recommenders not receiving their notices from UCSF. i was given the email address of someone who would be able to help me. waiting for a reply now! i'll keep ya'll posted. :)
Hi everyone! Quick question...I know I read online in the instructions that they would be asking for a copy of our resume or CV, but I can't find anywhere in the application where you can upload such a document. I'm assuming that statement was incorrect, and what they are really looking for is for us to just type our information in the Experience section. Let me know if I am crazy and if there is a spot to upload resumes/CVs, otherwise I'll just go back to slaving over my essays :). Hope everyone is doing well!!

hi futurenurse1983,
if i am not mistaken, it did not say that we need a copy of our cv or resume, just that having an updating copy would be helpful for filling out our application. this is quoted directly from the ucsf page:
work/volunteer history. be prepared to document your work history and volunteer experiences. a current or recent résumé or curriculum vitae (cv) can help you to complete these sections. phd applicants must convert to .pdf and then upload their cv/résumé as a required submission with their on-line application.
unless you are applying for the phd program, then a cv is not required, just recommended to help you fill out your application.
hope that helps!
Hello,
I sent an email to [email protected] asking if my transcripts have been received, but I have not received a response. Has anyone else tried to get confirmation like I did? Did you receive a response?
Thank you!
veggies,
On the education page of my application under each entry there is a status line and if they've received the transcript it says Status: Received
The one they've received I sent a while ago but another one I sent more recently doesn't show status yet.
Hope this helps?
I've emailed too and heard nothing.

ju-loy,
I looked on my application under the education part and I do not see anything that says status? I dont even see a place for it to go... Have you already locked your application? I was under the impression that you need to lock your application before you can see whether your transcripts have been received.
Thanks!
ju-loy

Haha ok good point, babymidwife1. She said she checked her spam folder but I might politely bring it up again!
