UCSD New Grad 2017

Thought I'd start a thread for the new grad program at UCSD for Spring 2017!

Anyone applied so far? What units? Wanted to keep each other updated if we hear anything :)

Does anyone have any news about the BMT/Oncology application. My status has not changed.

sarrahsparks, No news. But my status has not changed from OPEN on any of the UCSD jobs I have applied for. One of my friends got a rejection letter for one of the positions she applied for. I have never recieved anything. I wonder how good they are about updating the application status there. I would assume some of the positions for previous postings have been filled, but my status is unchanged as well. :/

I applied for that position too SarrahSparks. Mine still says "referred to hiring department as of Jan 23" but hasn't changed since then.

Had you guys all taken NCLEX before applying? I hope they post some more jobs for a few months out soon.

I did not. I have NCLEX scheduled for later this week. My status says "OPEN" too. Maybe that means we were never sent to the hiring department like Amber was. Hopefully there are February postings soon for April.

Ha. I'm taking my NCLEX this week too @Sarrahsparks. Yeah, well I hope that is the reason I got passed over. The jobs were supposed to have start dates for Jan/Feb, so maybe they don't like no license yet. I really hope that is the main reason. :nailbiting: Anyway, there is a UCSD nurse recruiting event at USD on Feb 8th, so I'm going to attend that. Maybe they can tell us better what they look for.

Is that for new grads? I saw they have a New Nurse Recruitment Forum 2/11 at CSU San Marcos and was assuming the USD one was for experienced nurses. At least that was what I was hoping, I am going to be out of town until 2/9 so unfortunately I cannot attend the USD one.

It doesn't say, so I'm going. Lol. I kinda thought USD was more for advanced practice nurses too, but idk. I'm don't think it matters which one you go to. You could probably even go to the black nurses association one. My friend who is a member told me the association is open to everyone. USD is closest to wher I live, so I'm just gonna show up and see. I didn't know the CSU one specified "New Nurse". I guess I should look again, or just go to both. Thanks for pointing that out.

For those who applied for the BMT/Oncology position, HR says no interviews have taken place for the position (at least not externally, not sure about internal applicants) and hiring managers have not yet selected who they will interview. She said give it another week as the process can be slow especially if it's a panel interview, they have to find interview dates that work for everyone in the panel.

It went from "application received" to "referred" so HR has forwarded candidates to the hiring manager but the manager hasn't chosen people to interview yet out of that list.

Thank you. I wonder what I'm doing wrong. I've never had it change to application recieved. Different resume for next posting, I guess. Good luck!
