hi everyone!
I recently applied for the UCSD new grad RN program-ICU...i do have my RN license. I really want to work for UCSD, but i havent heard much back from them. I was requested to fill out the new grad questionare after applying for the positiong, but that was on 03/10/08....What can I do to really get that job???? I need advice. Dont know if i should call them n ask for the status of application or just wait. Is anybody out there who went through their program??? or just waiting to hear from them too??? I would appreciate any comments! thank you
Hey Cali RN: don't lose hope! Maybe an email will come to you next week. If not, Scripps said they'll be posting new grad positions in the next 2 weeks or so, and Pomerado/Palomar haven't posted new grad positions for their January program yet.
My credentials...I have a BSN, RN license, ACLS and BLS. I graduated in June 2009, was an honor's student and on the honor roll. My school was really big on nursing research and since I was an honor's student I had to conduct original research for my thesis. I haven't worked in the health care field, just food service jobs. I did volunteer at a hospital for two years, doing things like feeding patients, ambulating them, and changing diapers. Hope that helps!
I interviewed today for SICU in UCSD. I was so nervous because I really want this job. The unit manager told me that there are a total of 24 new grads being interviewed for SICU (and who knows what the tolal number of applicants there were... probably in the hundreds, i'm guessing). The panel consisted of the unit manager, another nurse, a cns, and clinical nurse educator. the manager told me i would find out on monday if i got the job or not. the waiting is going to kill me, i feel like.. lots of clinical questions and scenario questions.
tclu, I have been keeping up with this thread as a guest but I just registered to message you. I have also not had luck getting a new grad job and am so disappointed. We just have to keep moving forward, we're doing all we can to make our dreams come true to become nurses. Just want you to know that someone's thinking of you and wishing you the best
i just got that rejection email from the nurse recruiter. I had started a phone interview with a nurse manager on Monday. She never called me back to complete it and now I get this email from the recruiter. HOW RUDE!!! UCSD is obviously not a very professional group of people. What a load... >

This is my second time applying to this program. I graduated in May and I just can't seem to find a job. Trying to figure out if there is just something I am not doing right....
