UCSD New Grad Residency November 2023

Published

Hello! I know it's a little early, but I just wanted to start a thread for UCSD's New Grad Nurse Residency program that's set to start in November 2023. It looks like there is going to be a webinar on June 7th, and applications will start on (or after) June 16th.

I applied for the OBGYN acute position at sharp as well since I have my postpartum preceptorship. I have my NRP and I am receiving my ACLS next month and I worked as a CNA at a SNF before I went to nursing school but I didn't work for very long. I know UCSD is super competitive but I hope sharp hires more.

I wish we could know more about their hiring process and how they decide. I feel like the extra certifications will help a bit! I have ACLS, PALS, and NRP. I did two externships and my preceptorship was on a PCU at NWM. I never worked as a tech/CNA though and I think that's hurting my applications now. Like Thao, this is my second time applying to UCSD. I also applied to Sharp (SICU and MICU) - did you apply there and, if so, what floors? I don't think there's a chat for there yet!

I just posted a thread if you guys wanna comment there for Sharp!

Did anyone here also apply to Rady's? ?

LOL I did, we are desperate for a job at this point?

Yeahhhhh haha! Peds is my top choice - I was hoping there would be NICU placements at the other hospitals but I know those slots are so rare!

Hey guys! I applied to Perinatal ? I am currently a volunteer on Postpartum at UCSD Jacobs. I have also applied to Scripps MCH, Sharp L&D at Chula Vista, and Radys! I'm all about Maternal Child Health/Peds! At this point I hope to land a new grad job in the hospital, if not I'll try clinics ?

does anyone know if the units chosen for your application are looked at equally or they prioritize your first selection first?

They really only look at your first choice.

I just spoke to a talent acquisition member and they said that each of your choices are equally looked at.

Has anyone gotten any interviews from the application or know when we might here back?

Checked my portal today and my status changed to "referred to hiring" I only selected Perinatal. Good luck everyone!
