UCSD New Grad Residency July 2022

Hi all! I wanted to start a topic for the July 2022 UCSD residency program applications since they close today! My first choice unit is ICU & I will graduate in early May. Good luck everyone!

Hey! I am still in nursing school and am not applying until later this year. The website says the hiring of new graduates occurs in Dec-Jan, May-June, Aug-Sep... So I am confused about which cohort you are applying to that had a deadline this past week? I'm just trying to get a feel for the timeline. I graduate in August.

@DeeDawg So it seems like they are changing the application process & haven't updated the website yet. As far as I know in previous cycles the openings for each unit were posted individually and you just had to keep checking because not everything was posted at the same time. I believe this is the first cycle were there is a single application for all units and you rank your choices.

Mine and some others application status has changed to referred to hiring department!

Congratulations! Do you and your friends all have RN licenses already? Any non-clinical/work experience? ASN or BSN?

Those whose application status changed for ICU are you internal applicants? Also, do you have previous ICU experience?

Thank you! No, we all graduate in May. We are in an ADN program but most in a concurrent BSN program. A lot of us have previous work experience whether it be as a CNA or LVN. A couple of us currently work there and/or have an externship there.

Internal, and I am currently positioned there for my externship. Other than the last few months, I do not have any other ICU experience.

I applied to NICU and don’t have ICU experience other than rotations. However I do have Women’s health and Er experience.

Hello all! 

My status changed for Labor & Delivery. I applied last cycle before I had my license and did not get referred. Hoping this time I get an interview!
