UCONN cein 2015

U.S.A. Connecticut

Hi!

Has anyone applied to the uconn cein for 2015? The first application deadline was Jan 31st. If you did apply have you heard anything yet??

I'm just anxious to find out.

Hi! I just got provisionally accepted to Waterbury (I'm taking micro now). Does anyone know what day/days of the week classes are held there? How far in advance do we know our schedule? I have 2 small kids, so I'm trying to figure out how best to arrange childcare. Fortunately, childcare will be my mom and in laws, but I am hoping to let them know what I'm going to need. Thanks in advance for any help! Congrats to all who got in!

Waterbury has classes on Fridays in the spring and fall; class moves to Wednesdays in the summer. It's usually 8:30-6:00, but you might get out earlier. The regular "core" class runs 8:30-2:30, and then the grad class starts at 3:00. For the summer, we had our grad class go until 9pm (people could leave earlier if they took work home), but it only ran for the first 8 weeks, and then we got out at 2:30 for the second half of the summer.

You will have two days of clinical each week. These days and times may vary, but expect 20 hours. In the spring, you will have a third clinical day spent in lab (at NVCC as Wtby UCONN doesn't have a simlab), but this is only 4 hours. Sorry I can't tell you when to expect your clinical times - some are days, some are evenings, some are weekdays, some are weekends, and some are a combination (ex. Friday night and Saturday day). We have actually had a couple of instances where a clinical day/time was changed AFTER people signed up for it (Wed/Thurs became Sun/Mon for one group). You should know a few weeks in advance.

The first week of each semester will be different from your regular schedule, so plan on having childcare available FT or arrange coverage for your job. You may not get much notice. I didn't know this, and had to scramble last January when I found out on Monday that I DIDN'T have to come in Tuesday (which was my normal day, and I'd arranged coverage), but I did have to come in Wednesday and Thursday (for which I had no coverage planned). For the fall, we didn't have clinical the first week; we had two extra days of class, but they waited until Thursday to tell us which days we needed to come in the following week.

I just received my acceptance letter to Stamford this weekend. I'm very excited, but nervous too! I submitted my application for the Aug. 20th deadline and my acceptance letter was dated the 26th, pretty quick turn around! Does anyone know where the clinicals potentially are for the Stamford campus? I'm from New Haven and have 4 young kids and I hope to get something close to home if possible. Congratulations everyone!

Also want to point out that UCONN Stamford campus is not far from the train station. Anyone who lives in the New Haven area could take MetroNorth - avoid traffic, and gain study time.

Thanks so much turtlesrcool, that was incredibly helpful! I was just looking fora basic overview, to give me an idea of what to expect. I really appreciate it!

I searched for a Facebook group for CEIN c/o 2015 but I didn't find one, so I went ahead and made one. Just search UConn CEIN/BS 2015. It's intended for all campuses, but we can always make individual groups later.

I searched for the group but only the 2013/2014 pages popped up. Do the privacy settings allow for anyone to find the group?

Hey, does anybody know what day the program will start??

There is definitely a Storrs one (I'm in it) but I don't think there was one for all campuses until now :) So excited to meet everyone!

Found the group! I also made one for Avery Point. :) And I am curious as well when we start, but I'm guessing we'll get all that information at orientation next month.

Hey I can't find the group. Only says the 2014 classes. What's the Avery Point group?

It took me several searches to find the groups and I wasn't able to see them on my phone. The Avery one is UConn CEIN Avery Point 2015.

I was told that the program starts Jan. 5!

A few people seem to have been able to find the group. The privacy settings should allow you to see it. It's "UConn CEIN/BS 2015"
