UCONN cein 2015

Published

Hi!

Has anyone applied to the uconn cein for 2015? The first application deadline was Jan 31st. If you did apply have you heard anything yet??

I'm just anxious to find out.

So still nothing in the mail for me. Starting to get worried. Is anyone else still waiting? Anyone get rejected?

Nothing yet.....

So I emailed them and was told ' due to the large number of applications recieved that they will be reviewed the next date June 30th and to expect an answer the first week of July'. So I'm guessing that means I was basically wait listed, obviously some people were already accepted

It does sound like a wait list situation to me, but don't get too down about it. I know they make a point of keeping spots open for June and August review sessions. This was a plus for me because I applied for the August review due to some prereqs I had to finish. I know there were definitely people who got in off the wait list during the fall, so even if you don't get a spot during the regular review process, there's always a chance. This is especially true if you can make Avery Point or Stamford work for you. Storrs and Waterbury campuses fill up much faster.

Have you looked at SCSU's ACE program? It's actually less expensive than UCONN's. If it's anything you might want to do, put in your application in April. Although I am in the CEIN program, I knew there was no guarantee, so I did the preliminary ACE application (to limit applications, the portal is only open ONE DAY from 9-4, usually in April) last spring. Basically, SCSU makes you do a preliminary application that gets you into the university (fill out the on-line application on the specified day, then send your transcripts soon after). Once you make it through that process, you can apply in the fall/winter to the ACE program itself. By that time, I'd already been accepted to UCONN, so I didn't pursue the ACE further, but that was my plan B.

Please don't think I'm implying you won't get into UCONN. I just know that for me it was good peace of mind knowing that I had another option in my pocket if I didn't get in to the CEIN program. I know it's hard being in limbo. Best of luck!

So this is odd. Just got another email now saying they will be reviewing applications again on Monday, letters sent out by first week of March. Well don't know if this is a good thing or not but I guess I won't be waiting as long. Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear!!

And I am also planning on applying to SCSU's program. First part of the application must be done on April 15th

Hopefully more of us will hear soon then! I figured I'd hold off a week or two to contact them and now I'm glad I did. Thanks for sharing!

Hello Waterprace. Who sent the email from UConn?

***** ********. I asked earlier in feb when we should expect to be notified she emailed me back first saying that the applications would be reviewed in June due to there being so many, then the next day she sent another email saying that the apps would be reviewed sooner and to expect notification the first week of March

Well I emailed ********** and it looks like I officially won't get reviewed until August (not what I had been told in my meeting back last semester), and Storrs is the only logical campus for my location so I'll most likely have to wait another year to hopefully be in the program. :/

They told you they aren't reviewing applications until August now?

Well they still have the June review, but they told me I won't get reviewed until August because of prereqs I'm taking now and over the summer. I have to admit that I understand why they want the prereqs done before you apply, but it doesn't make sense to me why they require the January applicants to have all prereqs completed and then be out of school for a year before jumping back in. Idk but they were great about emailing back quickly and answering any questions I had.

Hi everyone! I was fortunately accepted into the January 2015 class in Storrs after applying for the January 31st deadline. For those who have been accepted, do you have any idea about housing for next year? I heard that living in Storrs may not be the best option because of the huge undergrad population making it hard, but the next closest place is about 25 minutes away. Let me know :)

Congrats to everyone else who has been accepted and good luck to all of those who are waiting to hear after the next deadline!
