UCLA New Grad Summer 2012 for NeuroTrauma ICU

Published

Hey guys, just thought I'd create our own thread so it'll be easier for us to communicate with each other without having to read through all the updates on the other units. Good luck to us all!

I just got a call from her today to come in for a 3rd interview. She said that they were having a hard time making a decision and wanted me to meet the educator for a third interview.

Good luck to us all!

O my! That's intense,but i think it's a very positive sign! Good luck to you :)

I just got a call from the UD tonight... I didn't get the job, either :/ What a bummer... I was hoping to meet some of you guys!

But congrats to everyone for making it this far, and good luck to all those who get an offer! And thanks to you all for being so supportive in general throughout the whole process. You guys are great

I got the call from UD tonight too at 8pm. I called her back at 9pm. She couldn't offer me a position either =(

So since she had a lot of experienced med surg nurses that applied for positions in her unit, does that mean we can try to apply through the new grad program with med surf experience under our belt?

=,( I thought it was a new grad program... i guess it was more of a critical care training program than new grad.

Congrats to Jayvelle for moving forward!

Good luck to everyone else on the journey!

I too got the call last night that I was not selected. I am very confused by the hiring of experienced M/S nurses wanting to move to critical care when this is advertised as a New Grad program and you must have less than 12 months of experience to qualify for the application process.

Part of me is disappointed and the other part of me realizes that my place is not there right now......

Good luck and makes us proud!.....when you make it in, remember us on the next go around and put a good word in for us all....:yeah:

Wow, I'm really shocked to hear that none of you guys got an offer. It makes me wonder if she's hiring mostly experienced med-surg nurses. Thank you all for all of your support and best wishes. This is my second time applying to her unit, the last time...I didn't even get a second interview. So I'm grateful to have made it this far. I just hope I can make it all the way. I'll let you guys know how it all goes.

I hope you all keep trying. As new grads, it's tough to find a job but not impossible! Good luck to us all!

Seriously! Why call it a new grad program then hire more experienced nurses?? I wonder how many new grad spots they actually have :/ But yes good luck Jayelle!!! Make us proud! :) And good luck to everyone else in the job search!!

i did my senior practicum in nticu at a level one trauma center, and 1,000 clinical hours overall throughout my nursing program. when i asked her what i could do to make my application stronger for next time, she told me that she likes to see more experience. i was kind of baffled by that since i hadn't heard anyone indicate they had been in nticu before.....i feel really confused by it all and conflicted as to whether i will reapply - hoping to land where i am needed most and can serve best.....keep us posted and i hope for your success!

i did too. i have my msn, and did a leadership project in the nticu. my med/surg was trauma step/down as well. i also have 5 months experience as working as a rn per diem at a urgent care clinic, but still wanted more experience...

congrats to those who haven't gotten the call. after last week i couldn't bear to log on for a while. for those who got the call, i'm sorry and keep on trucking!

Wow, seems like you guys have a lot of experience. I did my preceptorship in the NTICU of a level 2 trauma center. Other than that, I don't have any experience as an RN. I did work as a PCA/CCP (whatever you want to call it) for 2.5 years.

It seems like you all have a strong background. I'm a bit nervous and fear that she may only hire the experienced med-surg nurses. But I'll be trying my best. My interview is tomorrow so I'm praying for the best. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Best of luck to all of you in all of your future endeavors :)
