UCLA New Grad RN Winter 2014

Published

I've been checking on and off since midnight for the new grad RN positions to open. It appears as though the positions usually open around midnight (based on previous allnurses threads). Just wondering if if I'm the only one who can't seem to find the job posts? I've been up for the last 48 hours trying to reedit my resume and cover letter, so that is totally possible. :)

Do they send out rejection e-mails or does your status just never change?

I don't think they send out rejection e-mails. If you aren't chosen your status does change to "Alternate Applicant Selected." However, they don't update your status until literally in the end when they are all done with interviews.

Thanks for the info, TooProudToMention. It's my first time applying, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Guess I'll keep checking for any changes.

TooProudToMention! I hope so too. External, 1st choice Cardio thorathoracic ICU! 2nd Neuro ICU, and medical ICU.

Thanks for the info, DLAT2013! I really do think you will be getting an interview! :) When you do, could you please update us and let us know which unit? Oh by the way, would you mind sharing when you graduated? And hopefully you get some good news before the holidays!

You're welcome! And good luck to you!

From previous years--does anyone know how likely it is that applicants are really considered for the 2nd and 3rd units they listed too? Or is it really mostly about the 1st choice and it's a yes or no for that one choice?

I am not really sure how often your 2nd and 3rd preferenced units are considered. From most people I know who got interviews last round, I think it was for their first choice. However, I did have a friend who got an interview for their 3rd choice. So, I guess it is possible to be considered for your 2nd and 3rd choice. I think it helps if you preferenced similar units for all your choices, like all Med Surg or all ICUs..

Has anyone else received an application status change like DLAT2013 that says "routed to interviewing supervisor"? If you have received this application status change, congratulations on moving forward! I really believe you will get an interview! :) And if you don't mind me asking, what units did you preference and when did you graduate? Thank you so much in advance!

I know UCLA is very competitive and a long shot, but I thought I would apply any way. I was curious to see if everyone probably got application status changes. I have a strong feeling I didn't pass the personality test, but I thought I would keep up with what's going on with this program any way.

Specializes in NICU.

What do they even look for with those personality tests?

I really have no idea. I just worry I didn't do well on it. It really is just me over-analyzing things. I am just curious if people had status changes for other units too. I rather know now if I am out than to keep having hope only to be later rejected.

I'm curious as to what it means for those who have had no change as well. Mine still hasn't changed and just says online assessment completed/withdraw my application/all required documents received

I just checked and saw the update "routed to interviewing supervisor" which came as a real surprise! The last time I had checked was two days ago, so my guess is that status changes could still take place. To answer your question, I listed 1) Medical ICU, 2) Liver transplant/surgical ICU, 3) Adult ICU/CCU. And I graduated in August 2013.

Thank you so much, somekarma, for sharing you got an application status change! Congrats on moving forward!! Thanks for answering my questions too :)

I guess your application status can still change even when other people got one already! Maybe they aren't done yet. If anyone sees they got an application status change, it would be so much appreciated if you could update here and lets us know what units you preferenced. I hope we hear about more people getting status changes soon!
