I'm posting this as the UCLA Health applications open up today for Summer 2023. Want to have a chance to connect!

There really aren't many psych new grad programs at all in LA which is so unfortunate considering the need for mental health professionals ? My entire background is psych too LOL. I was thinking I might try to get into the ER & work that for a bit until I can make my way back into psych? Some of the psych units in LA are SO poorly kept & I'm not sure I want to go back to ones like that.
Yeah the one hospital's new grad program I was betting on in San Diego with psych just opened for me to see that their psych unit isn't even hiring this cohort ❤️ honestly might look into working as a prison nurse lmao I don't wanna go to the psych units in SD too bc they're terrible
There are union mandated annual across the board increases. The wage tables in the UC/Cal Nurses Association contract include data for each year within the 4 year contract, unfortunately the wage table appendix that is currently available online is outdated. https://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/labor/bargaining-units/nx/docs/nx_appendix-a_wage-tables.pdf
Last years September cohort of new grads started at $50 per hour, they are now making around $57 per hour. They have had two wage increases, one due to a union mandated increase (implemented in January, I believe) and then another once they hit the 6 month mark and are bumped up from Clinical Nurse I to Clinical Nurse II.

Oh okay cool! So it increases often it seems like. The new grads this cohort were offered $53.01 and Nicholas said it would raise to $56.63 after 6 months.

UGH, oh no ? Do you think you'll apply again to the UCLA new grad program? I think applications open up again soon but we would start in like Spring next year?? Is it weird that I kind of want to keep in touch with you somehow since you're like one of the only people I know pursuing psych too?! LOL

I'm looking at applying for the next cohort, and have heard that they heavily take students that graduated from UCLA.
Are there folks on here that got offers, but went to schools other than UCLA?
Thanks!
Hello! I went to a different school in SoCal and got an offer in their ambulatory surgery center!
