UCLA MSN Fall 2014

Published

Hi friends!

Anyone applying to the UCLA MSN-Advanced Practice program for Fall 2014? I applied for the FNP program. I figured we could use this thread to chat and update each other!

Thanks!

NRSVERO- I don't know if it will be session A, B, or C. Not sure on any of those details.

Jess4RN- in my previous posts, they accepted up to 24 people out of 57 who applied. So 6 of those 24 people need to decline their offer.

There is a possibility you may get called in. I was on the fence about accepting. And I know my co- worker who also got accepted into the AC/AGNP program is deciding right now whether she will accept or not. I'm sure there are many in the same boat. Plus, for the most part, people get more than one acceptance offer. Some may choose to go to UCSF instead.

Thanks Gemi523! Like I said, I am still hopeful! In the email I received from RF it said: Physical Assessment will also be offered during Summer Session C. Enrollment is only offered to admitted students. Start date would be 8/4/14.

For those that were offered admission to UCLA MSN 2014, did any of you receive your financial aid offer letter yet ? I'm still awaiting mine to decide if I should accept admission. UCLA tuition costs three times that of Cal State so I'm considering ....

Haiyen, I have not received anything yet.

I'm glad to hear the PA course starts in August. I'm moving from the East Coast and that will give me time to work a few more months before I make my way out. Does anyone know how long the course runs?

Good luck to everyone waiting on decisions.

FYI..Before I applied to the ANP/ Gero primary Occupational and Environmental Health I spoke to the program director, she said sometimes they don't have enough applicants so they offer this program to those who were wait listed for other programs.

I believe session C is 6 weeks. That's what RF stated about the Physiology course that starts 8/4 in session C also.

I've been reading this is the forum for a while and decided to contribute. Firstly, Congrats to all that have been accepted and Good luck to all that have been waitlisted! Unfortunately, I received my rejection today for the Ad/Ger ANP program..anyone else?

Still nothing on my end for FNP, and my page still says to date no decision has been made.

So I'm assuming everyone is finding out their decision thru email?

Hi Harry- thank you! Don't be discouraged. Keep applying if it's something you want. Just so you know, my ADN GPA was horrendous. 2.9 with F' and D's and withdrawals on my transcript from 10 years ago. My BSN GPA was cum Laude 3.6 last year. NOT stellar. I have NO volunteer, committee, research contributions worthy to be noted on my application. I have 9 years of ICU experience from some of the worlds best hospitals on every ICU specialty you can think of. And I do feel my SOP was pretty strong.

So I guess that's my advise. Branch out your experience if you havnt and write a strong SOP to stand out if you feel it could use some tweaking.

Thanks so much the advice Gemi523. Nine years of ICU experience! That is impressive. That experience will translate into being an amazing NP. Your correct, I should not give up on my dream and will continue to bolster my application and reapply.

Just an update- I just received my email from R.F. for FNP, I'm waitlisted at unlucky #13 lol

I'll try again next year, good luck to all!!

Congrats to everyone who got in so far, and for those who are waitlisted, there is hope! Remember UCLA is an expensive program and many people also applied to CSU schools and other UC campuses. So not everyone who was accepted will be enrolling.

Still nothing on my end. I was really hoping to get an email today. My status has said "You should soon be hearing directly from your department" since Monday :/
