UCLA MECN 2021

Hi everyone!

I am planning on applying to UCLA's MECN program for 2021 and since I did not see a thread here yet I wanted to get one going for us to share questions and concerns. Good luck to everyone!

For waitlists, you have the same day as those accepted to confirm/deny admission, which is two weeks from when you get Mark's initial email. Once they process those who accept, they will go down the waitlist and start accepting students in sequential order (1, 2, 3 etc). For last year, I think 6 students were accepted at least two weeks after the initial deadline for acceptance. I was #7 and heard back in early May, and I know a girl who was #15 was accepted two days before class started in the last week of September. 

If you are a single-digit waitlist, you will have a high chance of getting off the waitlist by the end of May. 

This is killing me, cause I already got accepted by Columbia and they start in June 7th! But, I am pretty sure last year many people got off the waitlist cause many students defer their acceptance due to the covid19 right? I’m afraid the competition this year gonna be more brutal ? 

I am #4 on the waitlist, and I am not confident I will get in..

Wow, Columbia is a great school but I have a strong feeling about your #4 position. Good luck!

The content of the email just describes that the SON has recommended admission to UCLA’s Graduate Division, and an official email will be sent within the next week.

Got an acceptance email from Mark right now. There has been no changes on my applciation though.
